Fontan on Fire

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

On a board of {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, Paul Fontan was in a blind-on-blind battle. He bet about 30,000 and then quickly called off his 110,000 or so from the big blind, tabling {8-Spades}{4-Spades}.

His opponent put his head in his hands and showed {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a stone dead flush draw and shipped over the dub.

Fontan began the day with one of the shortest stacks but is more than healthy now with around double the average count.

Dub for Aido

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

An early player opened to 7,000 and called a three-bet to 21,000 from Sergio Aido on the button. The flop checked through for a board of {3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. The early player splashed in 15,000 and Aido quickly called. On the {7-Hearts} river, the early player check-called Aido's jam for 24,000.

Aido showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

"F****** jacks," his opponent grumbled, throwing {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} into the middle.

Winter on a Heap

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Sean Winter
Sean Winter

Sean Winter was under the gun and facing a bet of 16,000 or so into 60,000 out of the big blind on a board of {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. He made it 110,000 and his opponent got the count, thought a bit, then moved all in. It was 189,000 and Winter thought about 30 seconds then called for nearly all of his chips.

The big blind showed {q-}{j-} but was no good against Winter's {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a boat.

Ausmus Takes it All from McKeehen

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

Joe McKeehen was in the small blind and bet 20,000 into about 50,000 on {10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Jeremy Ausmus called in middle position and the turn was a {7-Clubs}. McKeehen slowed down with a check and Ausmus bet 35,000. McKeehen called, bringing the {3-Hearts} river. He checked and Ausmus jammed except one T500 chip. It was 103,500 and McKeehen called fairly quickly.

Ausmus showed {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a set and took the huge pot down.

A few hands later, those players saw a {3-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop and each checked to bring a {9-Diamonds}. Ausmus checked from under the gun, McKeehen bet 8,000, and Ausmus made it 23,000. McKeehen called. On the {2-Diamonds} river, Ausmus shoved. McKeehen counted down his stack. It looked to be about 46,000 and he opted to call it off, turning over {a-}{10-}.

Ausmus had him outkicked with {a-}{q-} and took the former WSOP champ's remaining stack.
