Bronshtein Calls Clock To Get Max Value On River

Level 21 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Yuval Bronshtein
Yuval Bronshtein

The action was picked up in a pot of roughly 600,000 on a completed board showing {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Curt Kohlberg checked from the big blind to Yuval Bronshtein in early position who took some time before sliding out a bet of 205,000, leaving only 70,000 behind.

Kohlberg went deep in the tank, and after several minutes, Bronshtein called the clock on Kohlberg who was given 30 more seconds to act on his hand.

With only two seconds remaining, Kohlberg made the call and Bronshtein confidently tabled {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nine-high straight to take down the sizable pot.

McMillen and Ziff Both Claim They "Flopped It"

Level 21 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Ron McMillen raised it up to 60,000 in middle position and Cliff Ziff called from the cutoff. They went heads-up to a flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and McMillen continued with a bet of 85,000. Ziff raised to 200,000 and McMillen called.

The turn brought the {a-Clubs} and McMillen led out with a bet of 100,000. Ziff was left shaking his head after a fourth club hit the board and eventually laid his head down.

"Bad turn card," McMillen pointed out. "I flopped it."

"I flopped it too!" Ziff exclaimed.

Pustina and Kohlberg Double Before the Break

Level 21 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Calvin Anderson opened to 50,000 and Vlastimil Pustina shoved all in for 395,000 on the button. Adnan Mohammad flat-called from the big blind and Anderson threw his {6-}{6-} into the muck.

Vlastimil Pustina: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Adnan Mohammad: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Pustina made a pair of eights to earn a double-up.

Next door, Curt Kohlberg shoved all in for 135,000 and was called by Yuval Bronshtein. Kohlberg showed {q-Spades}{j-Spades} but was in tough against the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} of Bronshtein. However, the board of [kqhqd7h6h] gave Kohlberg three queens and he also doubled.

Former Aussie Millions Champ Peter Costa Wins $1,100 Seniors Event

Level 21 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Peter Costa

The 2023 Wynn Millions kicked off on February 20 and is slated to run through March 19. While the $3,500 buy-in, $3 million GTD Wynn Millions Main Event is capturing the big headlines, there have been a series of side events playing over the past couple of weeks.

From February 27-28, the $1,100 Seniors NLH $100K GTD saw 240 entrants generate a $232,800 prize pool, which was reserved for the top 27 finishers. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Michael Ruter (10th - $4,598), Danny Bigelow (14th - $3,562), Cy Williams (19th - $2,863), and Arnie Friedman (25th - $2,363).

At the final table, a three-way deal was struck that ultimately saw Peter Costa win the tournament for $44,179. If that name sounds familiar, it’s probably because you recognize Costa as the winner of the 2003 Aussie Millions Main Event for $221,862.

“Just before the mass shutdowns due to COVID in 2020, I decided that I had unfinished business with poker,” Costa shared on social media. “It was just a matter of when rather than if, regardless of the fact that I was not getting any younger … This year, I was determined that the unfinished business needed to be finished.”

He continued: “Looking back at this event, it really was fun seeing the numbers dwindle down with me and my short stack being mere bystanders for the most part … I was just enjoying the moment for it was - a fun time with really nice people.”

Some of his accomplishments that year included victories in the $300 Limit Hold’em event at the California State Poker Championship for $115,662; Bellagio’s $2,500 Limit Hold’em for $112,000; $5,000 Championship Event at the 2002 Hall of Fame Poker Classic for $101,520; a pair of victories at the 2002 Four Queens Poker Classic for nearly $40,000; and winning the Late Night Poker Series 6 Grand Final for $78,275.

Kohlberg At Risk Against Sabe

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Joseph Sabe opened the action to 60,000 from early position and it folded around to Curt Kohlberg in the big blind who moved all in for 305,000 total. Sabe asked for a count before eventually tossing in a chip for the call.

Curt Kohlberg: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Joseph Sabe: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Kohlberg was in great shape with the better kicker and was still ahead on the flop of {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

"Put a jack," shouted Sabe in hopes of a high card for a chop. The turn brought his wish when the {j-Spades} peeled off and the inconsequential {k-Diamonds} hit the river to secure the chop for both players.

Deardorff Catches Up on the River

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Andrew Esposito raised to 60,000 in early position and was called by Ron McMillen and Kristen Deardorff in the blinds. The flop fell {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and the action checked around to the {3-Spades} on the turn.

It checked to Esposito again who finally threw in a bet of 60,000. McMillen called and Deardorff check-raised to 250,000. Esposito just called and McMillen got out of the way.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Deardorff slowed down with a check. Esposito checked it back and Deardorff turned over {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a rivered full house. Esposito showed his {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} for a smaller full house and Deardorff claimed the pot.

"I don't feel right taking this pot. But I will," Deardorff said after the hand.

Schwartz Scores Triple Up

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jake Schwartz
Jake Schwartz

Jacob Powers limped in from under the gun and Jake Schwartz moved all in next to act for 360,000. It folded to Orestis Kanakopoulos in the cutoff who made the call and Powers elected to re-jam for close to 1,500,000. Kanakopoulos got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Jake Schwartz: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Jacob Powers: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Schwartz got it in as good as he could've hoped for and when the board ran out {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}, the pair of tens with an ace-kicker held up to score the triple up for Schwartz.

Ingles Gets Paid Off

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Pedro Ingles and Andrew Esposito were heads-up on the river with a completed board of {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} spread across the felt.

Esposito checked from the big blind and Ingles splashed in a bet of 410,000. Esposito went into the tank for at least three minutes before the clock was finally called. Esposito finally stuck in the chips to call and Ingles turned over {q-Spades}{9-Spades} for a flush to scoop another pot.
