On June 29, the Wynn Summer Classic had just one goal — to knock out the fourth and final starting flight of the $10 million guaranteed, $10,400 buy in, $10,400 Wynn Summer Championship.
The tables for the event dominated the tournament space all day as the total number of entries nearly doubled in one flight.
Julian Manolio Bags Chip Lead For Day 1D
At the start of Day 1D, the $10,400 Wynn Summer Championship was already shaping up to be a massive event. Despite the $10k price point, more players bought into the event than some events with 1/10th the cost to enter.
As the day began, there were 788 entries and $7,722,400 in the prize pool. By the end of the day, the tournament's vital statistics had swelled by another 749 buy ins to 1,537 entries and $15,062,600 in the prize pool.
A total of 272 players survived from the the Day 1D field. They join a now 551-player strong Day 2 field that will return later today to continue the action.
Graeme Newman retains the overall chip lead.
After Day 1D, Graeme Newman still leads the field overall with 506,500 in chips, but Day 1D chip leader, Julian Manolio has slipped into second.
The Day 1D second- and third-bags — Vijay Ramani (433,000) and Chin Lim (418,000) — have also taken the third and fourth spots overall.
