Blackjack can be one of the most profitable casino games, one made famous by books like Bringing Down the House and movies like 21. But blackjack can also be a game of nightmares, as one Twitch streamer recently found out.
In a clip that racked up more than a million views on social media, the online gambler lost a hand in the most improbable way possible to be left wide-eyed and screaming in front of his computer screen.
Most Brutal Blackjack Hand Ever?
For the uninitiated, blackjack is a game where players and the dealer both try to make cards that add up to 21 without going over, or busting. The hand began innocuously enough, with the player being dealt an ace and four to be at five or 15 against the virtual dealer's ace of hearts.
The player drew a king and hit again to be dealt a three and left with 18, a relatively strong blackjack hand. The player stood, and things got interesting.
The dealer flipped over another ace of hearts, and two more aces of hearts followed as the player screamed "what the f***?!" after the dealer sat at a four, avoiding several chances to bust or make a worse hand like a 17.
The dealer then fanned a two to go to six, continuing to thread the needle. The dealer put down a ten to go to 16, making it look like a bust was imminent.
"If he doesn't bust ... the player said before the dealer put down a five to make a perfect 21 and leave the player crushed, but not speechless.
"WHAT THE F***?!" the player exclaimed again, this time much louder.
The hand was about as improbable as they come — far over one in a million — as there were countless chances for the dealer to go over 21 and bust.
