Real Gaming Becomes Nevada's Third Online Poker Site To Launch
Nevada became the first U.S. state to launch Internet poker last year, and two sites took advantage of the legalized landscape within months – Ultimate Poker and WSOP.com. Now, according to a report by USPoker.com, Real Gaming has become the third online poker site to launch real-money operations.
In October 2011, Michael Gaughan, owner of the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, announced the debut of SouthPointPoker.com, the first free-play online poker site launched by a casino-based and state-regulated property. In August 2012, South Point received preliminary approval to offer real-money online poker as an operator, manufacturer and service provider, which was officially approved a couple week later. The site rebranded as Real Gaming last year but is still backed by the South Point Casino.
Currently in a soft launch phase, Real Gaming operates a bit differently than its competition. The first distinction is that it operates directly in all major browsers, meaning a download is not required. Second, Real Gaming verifies players’ locations by requiring them to download a mobile app (available in both the App Store and for Android). Once they do, the following steps must be taken in order to play:
- Make sure you have the Real Gaming App installed on your iPhone or Android phone.
Download at realgaming.com/locate
- Login to RealGaming.com and select a game to play in the Lobby.
- Click the "SMS" button and you will be sent a Text Message. (You must already have Verified your account.)
- Click the link in the Text Message to launch the "Real Gaming" location app on your phone. Once the app says "Get My Token", push that and then enter the token you receive from the app into the game.
The site will offer both tournaments and cash games, though there currently are no multi-table tournaments scheduled.
Real Gaming has yet to initiate a marketing campaign and has yet to offer any promotions, though some are expected in the near future. Players can deposit on the site either by a traditional check, electronic checks, and bank wire. Right now, the only withdrawal option is check by mail.
