Season 3 of Hollywood Poker Open Continues in Tunica, MS from Feb. 26 - March 8

Hollywood Poker Open Tunica

Season 3 of the Hollywood Poker Open (HPO) has already crowned a pair of winners. First, the Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg Main Event attracted a record-setting HPO field of 207 players and saw Jesse McEuen emerge victorious to capture the $49,676 first-place prize, and then earlier this week Charles Maxcy took down the HPO Toledo after a six-way deal.

Next, the HPO will head south to Tunica, Mississippi for the Hollywood Poker Open Tunica from Feb. 26 through March 8. The stop will have a dozen “featured events” culminating in the $1,115 HPO Regional Main Event on Saturday, March 7 at 12:00 p.m. local time. In addition, the stop will feature numerous satellites and side events.

Located just 35 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee, Hollywood Casino Tunica offers award-winning service and 54,000 square feet of action-packed gaming, not to mention a 494-room luxury hotel and first-class restaurants. As they say: "you'll discover a new level of gaming and entertainment."

2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ and HPO Ambassador Chris Moneymaker is scheduled to be in attendance, and of course the PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture all the Main Event action in our live blog.

Last year, the HPO Tunica saw Toby Mathews top both Jonathan Taylor (runner-up) and Moneymaker (third place) to win the title, a $15,040 payday, and a $2,500 seat into the season-ending championship at the M Resort Casino Spa in Las Vegas.

Speaking of which, each stop in Season 3 includes a series of qualifiers for the season-ending event. Last season, the HPO sent more than 200 promotional winners to the Championship Event. HPO Tournament Director Bill Bruce says the plan is the same in Season 3.

"We plan to not only give away hundreds of seats to the Championship again, but we will also implement similar seat winner promotions to the Regional tournament series as well," said Bruce, who has served as the HPO director since the tour's inception. "These HPO tournament fields are such a great mix of traveling poker professionals and local promotion winners which makes the tournaments really attractive to all levels of poker players."
