Brian “tsarrast” Rast became a Spring Championship Of Online Poker champion on Day 15 of the 2017 SCOOP when he topped a field of 157 players in the SCOOP-52-H: $1,050 NL 2-7 Single Draw event, a result that netted him $36,502.

4IMluckNutsRussia$12,560
5RunGodlikeUnited Kingdom$9,420

6bencb789Austria$5,495

The 157 entries were made up of 73 unique players and 84 reentries and their $1,050 buy-ins created a prize pool of $157,000, which was more than three times the $50,000 guaranteed amount.

World-renowned players Shaun “shaundeeb” Deeb (21st for $2,747), Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi (20th for $2,747), Chance “ChanceCU” Kornuth (18th for $2,747) and Joao “joaoMathias” Mathias Baumgarten (15th for $2,747) were among those who finished inside the top 21 places where the prize money was awarded.

By the time the seven-handed final table was set, the least any of the surviving players could win was $5,495. The champion would walk away with a $6,502 score.

Austria’s “bencb789” bust in seventh place at the hands of Scott “gunning4you” Seiver. The Austrian’s 47345 couldn’t beat the 27345 of Seiver and his tournament came to an abrupt end.

Two U.K.-based players, William “bigfox86” Foxen and “RunGodlike” also fell victim to Seiver and did so in quick succession to leave only four players challenging for the title. Those four became three when “ImLuckNuts” moved all in for 12 big blinds with 569102 and lost to Adam “Adamyid” Owen’s superior 741053.

Owen, a British pro who played this tournament from Mexico, was eliminated in third place, leaving Seiver and Rast to battle it out heads up for the top prize.

It was a heads-up clash that lasted almost two hours and one that saw the chip lead exchange hands on numerous occasions. Eventually, the tournament swung in Rast’s favor when an all in preflop confrontation saw Seiver’s J4897 lose out to Rast’s 410628 after both players stood pat.

A couple of hands later, the tournament was all over. Seiver was all in and at risk of busting and he turned over 46397 and was dominated by Rast’s 85736. Seiver fell in second place for $25,120 and Rast claimed the title and the $36,502 first-place prize.
