Sunday Briefing: 'mdf92' Turns $215 into $212,109 at PokerStars
PokerStars once again saw a massive turnout for its Sunday Million tournament thanks in part to halving the $215 buy-in to $107.50. A huge field of 20,540 entries saw the $1 million guaranteed prize pool more than double to $2,054,000 of which more than $212,000 was reserved for the champion.
That champion turned out to be “mdf92” who walked away with $212,109 for his efforts. Mdf92 took full advantage of the re-entry format of the half price Sunday Million and put his second bullet to good use. The champion was joined at the final table by a host of talented players including Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov who had won the Sunday Million twice previously. Vezhenkov eventually fell in sixth place for $39,036.
Mdf92 found himself heads up with Brazil’s “ladygambiti” with a massive lead of 169 million to 36.1 million. The deficit proved too much of a gap for the Brazilian to bridge.
