Sunday Briefing: 'Zema007' Triumphs in the partypoker Title Fight

Sunday Briefing
Sharelines
  • 'Zema007' won this week's $200K Gtd Title Fight at partypoker for a $35,948 score.

After a large number of the poker community stayed up to watch Floyd Mayweather improve his boxing record to 50 wins from 50 fights by defeating Conor McGregor, their attention shifted to trying to improve their own poker records in online poker’s Sunday Majors.

One tournament, the $200,000 guaranteed Title Fight at partypoker, attracted 1,045 entries who created a $209,000 prize pool. The top 136 finishers received prize money for the efforts, a min-cash weighing in at $480.70, a final table appearance coming in at $2,717 and $35,948 reserved for the eventual champion.

That champion turned out to be Russia's “Zema007” who defeated “dsemo” heads-up to scoop the large prize, leaving the runner-up to collect $25,748.80.

Some of the other notable wins at partypoker on Aug. 27 included:

The biggest prize of the weekend went to Russia’s “Dimitri005” courtesy of him winning the PokerStars Sunday Million. Some 5,593 entries were processed and a $1,118,600 prize pool created.

The nine-handed final table was an international affair with eight different nationalities represented. Once only four players remained, the tournament was paused so the quartet could discuss a deal and those negotiations were successful.

Greece’s “Akyllas1” banked $88,660 after finishing fourth, “Wh0AndDeni,” who had reentered during late registration, finished third for $87,717 and Ukraine’s “Sox[tyol]” was the runner-up for $110,850. Dimitri005 secured a $132,436 score for his victory and, of course, bragging rights among his peers.
