Dave Alfa & Andrew Robinson Capture Two Rings Each at WSOPC Choctaw

The 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Choctaw Durant wrapped up on Monday with the Oklahoma stop’s $1,700 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, a tournament that attracted 1,161 entrants and generated a $1,758,915 prize pool.
After three days of play, Texas’ Dave Alfa (pictured), 30, came out on top to capture a $320,998 top prize and secure a seat into the season-ending Global Casino Championship.
It actually marked Alfa’s second win of the series after he topped a 195-entry field to win Event #6: $400 Big O for $16,732.

The top 117 Main Event finishers made the money including Johnny Landreth (15th - $20,913), Jason Brin (19h - $14,353), Phil Mader (24th - $12,084), Angelina Jordison (28th - $8,830), Robert Hankins (40th - $5,945), Jean Gaspard (45th - $5,945), and TJ Cloutier (64th - $4,380).

According to updates from the event, Alfa began the final day as one of the short stacks but an early double got him right back in it. After Alfa riverd a straight to bust Srinivasa Vadlamudi in tenth place, the final table was set.
It was there Alfa played a massive pot against Austin Lewis in which the latter got it in preflop with Big Slick only to run it smack dab into the former’s pocket rockets. The aces held and Alfa doubled into the chip lead, which he maintained from six players on down.
In the final hand of the tournament, Dapo Ajayi moved all in holding the 2♠2♦ and was flipping for his tournament life against Alfa’s A♣4♣. The 4♠9♦K♦ flop gave Alfa the lead and he maintained it through both the 9♠ turn and 8♥ river. Ajayi took home $198,265 for his runner-up finish.

In side event news, 56-year-old Martin Ryan kept his heater going by winning his ninth gold ring in just over two years. It happened when he topped a 421-entry field in Event #5: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack, good for $30,563.
Meanwhile, it was a big stop for Andrew Robinson, who won not one but two gold rings in back-to-back tournaments. The first was Event #7: $400 No-Limit Hold'em 4-Handed, which attracted 185 runners, and the other Event #9: $400 NLHE Double Stack, which had 429 entries. The wins were good for $15,873 and $31,146 respectively.
“I think confidence is pretty key,” Robinson told WSOP officials after his second win. “I mean, when you are running good it exudes from you and kind of makes people a little scared to play against you, so it makes things easier.
Not only did the 38-year-old Robinson win his fifth and sixth gold rings, but he also captured the title of Casino Championship for a seat into the 2019 Global Casino Championship (something he also won back in 2013). Robinson has now won gold rings in five different states: Oklahoma, North Carolina, Indiana, Nevada, and Louisiana.
