PokerNews to Live Report This Weekend’s RGPS Harrah’s Kansas City Main Event

RGPS Kansas City

The penultimate stop of the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) “Showbound” season kicks off on Tuesday night at Harrah’s North Kansas City. The six-day series will culminate with a $575 buy-in, $100K GTD Main Event, a tournament PokerNews will live report.

Throughout the 2019 RGPS Showbound Season, powered by PokerGO, players have had the chance to win invitations to compete in a season-ending invite-only freeroll satellite at Hard Rock Tulsa for a pair of $5,000 Sit & Go seats to be on Poker After Dark in Las Vegas. Packages include an “airfare and hotel” travel stipend (Must be 21 to participate in the freeroll satellite, invitations are non-transferable, limited to one invitation and seat per player.)

All players need to do is win any RGPS Showbound side event or final table any Main Event. “Showbound Powered by PokerGO” will encourage tournament participants at all tour stops to dress to impress and walk the crimson carpet on their way to the poker table.

This stop marks the second-to-last chance players have to qualify. The final stop will be April 30-May 5 at Hard Rock Tulsa in Oklahoma.

What to Expect from the RGPS Kansas City

The stop kicks off Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT with the $135 RunGood Pro Bounty. Special guests will be holding bounty envelopes that contain prizes varying between $1,000 cash and RunGood apparel store credit.

In last year’s RGPS Old West season, the Kansas City stop drew some big names in World Series of Poker champs John Cynn and Scott Blumstein. The Main Event wound up drawing 391 players and offered up a $43,010 prize pool. The tournament ended in a three-way deal that saw Corey Blevins finish first for $32,878, while Andrew Flaherty and Garnet Ferron took second and third for $31,132 and $25,000 respectively.

Meanwhile, Jeff McHugh took down last year’s $135 Pro Bounty (231 entries) for $6,237, while Jeff Grimes topped a field of 361 entries to win the $180 Deepstack event for $7,164.

This year’s RGPS Kansas City is expected to be even bigger and better.
