Sunday Briefing: $119K Score For Ben_Apart

The first Sunday of November brought some massive results in the online poker tournament world with several big scores enjoyed at 888poker, Natural8, partypoker, and PokerStars. Here are the two biggest, richest events from each of those sites.

$109 Sunday Million at PokerStars

Almost 12,000 players turned out for this week’s Sunday Million as 11,878 players bought in. The $1,187,800 prize pool was shared among the top 2,150 finishers ad it was “Ben_Apart” from the United Kingdom who finished on top of the pile.

Ben_Apart collected a cool $119,637 for their victory after defeating Russia’s “yodashutka” heads-up for the title. Second-place weighed in at a bankroll-booting $86,812.

Earlier at the final table, Netherlands’ “Cashaoui” fell in ninth place for $9,202, the last player not to win five-figures. Juan “jkru005” Kru banked $12,680 for his eighth-place exit with “RafaCorreaBR” from brazil securing the $17,473 seventh-place prize.

Sixth place and $24,077 went to Mexico-based British star Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks who was joined on the rail by “GreekPro47” and “x_zola25” who banked $33,178 and $45,719 respectively.

The penultimate bust out was “JulianPasare” of Germany, who collected $63,000.

$2,100 Sunday High Roller at PokerStars

The $2,100 Sunday High Roller attracted a 63-strong field, and only seven of those received prize money.

Thomas “WushuTM” Muehloecker was the first player to collect some prize money, namely $5,483. British pro Luke “Bit2Easy” Reeves then fell in fifth for $7,609, and he was joined in the role of spectator by Andrey “ThePateychuk” Pateychuk of Russia who scooped $10,588.

Another Brit in the shape of Simon “simon1471” Higgins was the fourth-place finisher, and he collected $14,651 for his troubles. Germany’s Arturs “ARTSchGamble” Scerbaks ran out of steam in third place for $20,311, leaving “WATnlos” and “maxtack11” to fight it out heads-up for the title.

That title went the way of “maxtack11” who locked up the $39,151 top prize, resigning WATnlos to the $28,213 runner-up score.

High Roller Sunday Masters at partypoker

Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert came close to winning the High Roller Sunday Masters at partypoker but fell at the final hurdle and had to make do with the $29,600 consolation prize. Hallaert lost out on the title when he lost the one-on-one battle with “patrick”, leaving the victory to pad their bankroll with $40,780.

The top five finishers won a five-figure prize. “GebGeb”, “xuxukr1” and “jojopoker236” were the first three players to bust from the final table. They banked scores of $4,600, $6,200, and $8,400 respectively.

Fifth place and £11,000 was “ShortSqueeze” with “SomaPowered” netting $15,600 for their fourth-place exit. Third-place went to “kannnichtmehr” for $21,100. They finished third in the $5,200 Big Game last week and look to be ending the year in style.

High Roller Bounty hunter at partypoker

partypoker’s bounty hunter tournaments are super popular at the site thanks to the bounty payments been bigger than partypoker’s rivals.

This week’s winner was “Irunsogoooood” whose $18,394 first-place prize was boosted by $23,311 worth of bounties for a combined score of $41,705. They defeated “PHUNERAL” heads-up to get their hands on the title, leaving PHUNERAL to bank a combined $25,647.

Busting opponents is crucial in PKO events and can make a massive difference to the prize money won. For example, “oooUsoooWacist” was the third-place finisher and walked away with $14,844, but “AmericanEagle” busted one place before them and won $17,490 in total.

$25,000 Rake or Break Whale at 888poker

All 30 entrants in the 888poker $25,000 Rake or Break Whale received their $30 tournament fee back in their 888poker accounts because the tournament didn’t reach its $25,000 prize pool target.

Preben “prebzzz” Stokkan was the man who outlasted 29 opponents to bank $8,600. The UK-based Norwegian beat “Hustlejg” heads-up for the title; second-place weighed in at $5,805.

The other trio to cash in this $530 buy-in event were “Streusalz” who finished third for $3,225, Jae “NEONTIGER” Kim who busted in fourth for $2,150 and “ElMariachi8” from Mexico who finished in fifth-place for $1,720.

$100,000 Sunday Mega Deep at 888poker

A field of 513 players ensured the $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep’s guarantee was hit, and Swedish superstar Anton “VnilaVader” Herrmann was the main beneficiary as he finished in fifth place after defeating “MilaZayne” heads-up. Herrmann added $19,583 to his bankroll, while MilaZayne took home $14,877.

The final table was also the home to three established professional players. New Zealand’s Darren “CrackFiend15” Curtin ran out of luck in eighth-place to turn his $215 into $2,462. Having won the Rake or Break Whale, Preben “prebzzz” Stokkan collected the $5,848 fifth-place prize.

Akash “strangejelly” Majumdar, who hails from Bangladesh, finished in fourth for $8,464.

Sunday Purple $1K at Natural8

The Sunday Purple $1K at Natural8 ended in a heads-up chop with those two players walking away with almost $30,000 between them.

Ukraine’s “fantazisto” is the player who finished on top. They secured a $14,480 prize. They defeated “UknowWhoIam” of Uruguay who actually won more than the champion thanks to the deal, second-place was worth $15,213.

That pair of players were the only ones to win a five-figure score, although Alexandre “HorseAlmighty” Mantovani of Brazil came close by banking $8,131 by finishing in third-place.

Shout outs also to three of Natural8’s high stakes regulars who reached this final table. “pDNA” of the UK finished fourth for $5,869, “Moist” from new Zealand banked $4,237 for their fifth-place exit and “SasukeUchiha” collected $3,059 for their sixth-place finish.

Sunday Purple $500 at Natural8

The Sunday Purple $500 attracted a field of 165 players who helped surpass the $75,000 guarantee. Winning the lion’s share of the $77,550 pot was UK’s “MickeyM” who turned their $500 into $15,613.

The Brit took on Japan’s “Rahchan” and came out on top of the one-on-one battle to bank the largest prize. Their Japanese opponent still has $11,899 reasons to be happy with their runner-up finish.

Earlier at the final table Tim “TEET1ME” Cramer won $1,777 for finishing in ninth; Cramer has been collecting cashes for more than a decade. Cramer was joined on the rail by “Quados Tibi” and an obvious Harry Potter fan in “WingardiumLeviosa”, the latter scooping $3,060.

Germany’s “Laxandschmier” and “Pato Negro” were the next to fall with “YuDabao4” being the penultimate bust-out, third-place being worth $9,096.
