Florencio Campomanes Wins First Platinum Pass of 2020 at Red Dragon Manila

Florencio Campomanes Flips His Way to First Platinum Pass of 2020

Last month, PokerStars announced 21 live events in 2020 with at least 24 chances for players to get their hands on a Platinum Pass ahead of the PokerStars Players Championship in Barcelona this August.

As part of this, seven events in the Philippines were announced, the first of which - the PokerStars Red Dragon Manila - is currently underway.

Today offered players not just the opportunity to cash in the Red Dragon Main Event, but also to get their hands on the very first Platinum Pass awarded in 2020.

Platinum Pass

Table Seven Picked at Random

A virtual wheel was spun to determine which table would be playing for that coveted Platinum Pass. Table 7 was selected all players were moved to the feature table so the whole poker room could watch along to see who would be winning the flip-out.

However, one player was missing. 2019 APPT Manila Main Event champion and Red Dragon Super High Roller runner-up Florencio Campomanes made a last-minute dash to the table in time for the action to get underway.

The dealer dealt the JA7 flop and the players each revealed one of their cards:

Hao Chen: 3
Xiaofeng Jiang: 2
Florencio Campomanes: Q
Sang Guk Im: 2
Sumit Sapra: 10
John Dela Cruz: A
Andres Korn: 10
Jae Kyung Sim: 8
Jason Orial Ong: 6

Dela Cruz in the Lead

Dela Cruz was ahead with the pair of aces. The dealer then turned over the Q to keep Delacruz ahead but it now also gave Campomanes a pair of queens.

Everyone was instructed to reveal their second hole card for them to end up with these cards:

Hao Chen: 33
Xiaofeng Jiang: 25
Florencio Campomanes: AQ
Sang Guk Im: 29
Sumit Sapra: 103
John Dela Cruz: A6
Andres Korn: 109
Jae Kyung Sim: 85
Jason Orial Ong: 66

Campomanes the Victor

Campomanes improved to two pair with aces and queens but wasn't safe yet as there were still some outs for the other players.

The river completed the board with the 9 as Campomanes celebrated with his friends as they rushed the table.

"I'm a luckbox!"

"I came late! I'm a luckbox! Luckbox!!!" Campomanes commented immediately after. "I'm shaking... I've never won a raffle in my life! Now I need to change my plans. I'm retired but now I have to play."

"I was going to go to the last PSPC but things happened and I didn't go. I tried to win a pass here in 2018, in one of the $200 events, I fired twelve bullets. I lost my mind trying to win one and now I have one!"
