Commerce Casino to Host the $1 Million WSOPC Tournament Of Champions Next Month

Table Of Contents
The World Series of Poker Circuit is headed to the Commerce Casino's massive 150-table poker room on May 8.
The WSOP Circuit Commerce festival will have the typical schedule of 18 WSOPC ring events, along with side events and satellites. Less typical is the $3,375,000 in guarantees that the Commerce has slapped across 15 of these events.
That sum does not include the additional $1,000,000 set aside for the Tournament of Champions. This freeroll tournament has seats reserved for each of this season's ring winners.
Tournament Of Champions at the Commmerce

While players will be excited for the WSOP Circuit Commerce $1,700 Main Event, a lot of eyes will be locked on the 2024/2025 Tournament of Champions.
The Tournament of Champions kicks off on May 15 and is a three-day freeroll event with $1,000,000 set aside for prizes. Anyone who won a WSOPC ring in the 2024/2025 season can enter. This also includes ring winners from the WSOP Paradise, the WSOP Online, and the WSOP Europe.
The invite list includes some big names like Adam Hendrix, Kristen Foxen, Alex Foxen, Kathy Liebert, Bryn Kenney, Chance Kornuth, and Maria Konnikova, and Phil Ivey.

The list also includes four of the top 5 all-time WSOPC ring winners — Ari Engel, Maurice Hawkins, Daniel Lowery, and Joshua Reichard.
Engel and Hawkins are in joint first with 19 rings each, a record set by Engel and more recently matched by Hawkins.
The Defending Champion

The last time the WSOPC hit up the Commerce, TV producer Matthew Salsberg walked away with the Main Event ring and $286,134.
In the noughties, Salsberg produced Showtime's hit series Weeds. Now he's better known for his poker exploits, with $3.6 million in live cashes and a WPT title from the main event at WPT Rendez-Vous à Paris.
The WSOP Circuit Commerce $1,700 Main Event attracted 1,209 players to the Los Angeles casino. A field of that size meant $1,831,635 in the prize pool and six-figure prizes for the podium spots.
Salsberg knocked out fellow California poker pro Michael Liang in third place, going on to defeat Anthony Marquez heads up.
Maquez won $190,774 for his second-place finish.
