Phil Ivey Reaches $25K H.O.R.S.E. Final Table in Pursuit of 12th WSOP Bracelet
Michael Mizrachi winning the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and receiving a special exemption for Poker Hall of Fame induction isn't the major news story on the final day of the series. Poker legend Phil Ivey could close out his summer on Wednesday with his 12th WSOP bracelet.
The Poker Hall of Famer has reached the final table in Event #98: $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E., and he's already locked up at least $149,643 in the 150-entrant tournament. But he's eyeing a win and to get to within five of Phil Hellmuth's bracelet record.
Will Ivey Take it Down?
Ivey entered the final table, his fourth of the summer, fourth in chips out of 14 remaining players. He'd battle through an average stack as players began to bust on Day 3.
But by the time the tournament had dwindled to its final seven, just after Chris Hunichen's elimination (eighth place for $90,110), he'd become the short stack. Ivey would, however, double through Ryan Miller in seven card stud.
Miller would get some chips back shortly after by eliminating Poker Hall of Famer John Hennigan in sixth place ($114,350). Ivey, at the time of publishing, was sixth in chips out of six remaining players, and he was quite a ways behind the next shortest stack — Brian Rast.
