Only a few poker players have accomplished the Triple Crown — winning World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT) and European Poker Tour (EPT) major titles — and Jake Cody is among them. The British poker pro added to his already accomplished legacy this week with a victory in the $5,300 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) at Hard Rock Hollywood in South Florida.

The SHRPO series consisted of more than 60 events with buy-ins ranging from $200 to $25,500. All told, the series generated over $14.3 million in prize pool money.

The $5,300 buy-in event generated a wild hand where a player was dealt three cards but didn't realize it until the river.

Cody Wins First SHRPO Title

Cody, who won the 2010 EPT Deauville Main Event for $1.2 million and the WPT London Main Event the same year before going on to win the 2011 WSOP $25,000 Heads-Up Championship $851,192, reached a three-handed deal with Jeremy Wien ($450,000) and 2022 GPI Overall and Mid-Major Player of the Year Stephen Song ($438,000).

“It feels unbelievable, getting the trophy, winning the tournament, even if you get a lot of money, actually winning just feels so good," Cody told the Seminole Hard Rock in a winner's interview. "There’s nothing that could have gone any different, I’m very happy with it.”

The final table also included Andjelko Andrejevic (4th - $240,000), Jasper Ma (7th - $106,000) and Chris Hunichen (9th - $65,000), whose stellar series will be discussed more below.

The victory gives Cody his third-biggest career score and pushed him above $5 million in Hendon Mob earnings. Back in April, he won a $2,200 Deep Stack event at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for $93,900.

Weng, Tice & Hunichen Among Other Winners

There were plenty of notable winners across more than 60 events in South Florida.

Gabe Ramos took down $600 Big Bet Mix Dealer’s Choice for $11,715 and posed for winners' photos with his two fluffy service dogs, while Chris Hunichen won $2,200 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em for $41,020, just a portion of what he would win throughout the series.

"Big Huni" would go on to finish fourth in the $10,000 Deepstack 8-Handed for $54,000, ninth in the SHPRO Championship for $65,000 and sixth in the $10,000 8-Handed NLH for $43,000.

Additionally, WPT all-time title holder Darren Elias, who earlier this summer scrubbed his name from the "Best Without a Bracelet" list, shipped $10,000 Eight-Handed NLH to win $219,535.

Meanwhile, 2023 GPI POY Bin Weng won $1,100 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em for $17,940 and Landon Tice won $3,000 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em with his mom and brother on the rail. Tice finished fourth in the 2024 WPT Rock in Roll Poker Open. Runner-up in that event was the young Matthew Beinner, who continued his run-good in this venue with a victory in $1,100 Purple Chip Bounty Turbo NLH for $8,488.

Later in the series, two-time bracelet winner Loni Hui won $400 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 for $7,625 and fellow two-time bracelet winner Shannon Shorr won $25,500 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em for $352,873 after a heads-up deal with Cherish Andrews, who won the same high roller earlier this year at the 2025 Showdown in April.

Also of note was David Shmuel winning $1,100 Limit Omaha 8 for his 12th SHRP major series victory and $20,080. The outright victory puts Shmuel closer to catching all-time title leader Raminder Singh with 13 titles.
