Oklahome State Poker Championship

A huge poker series is coming to the Southwest later this month when the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) hosts the Oklahoma State Poker Championship.

All the action takes place at the Hard Rock Casino Resort in Tulsa, one of the most popular card rooms in the Sooner State. The 21-trophy series runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1. PokerNews will be on-site, providing exclusive live reporting coverage of the Main Event.

Series Highlights

Action at Hard Rock begins at 11 a.m. local time on Aug. 21 with the $300 Series Opener No-Limit Hold'em, a one-day tournament. A second trophy event on the same day — $200 Double Green Chip Bounty — kicks off at 7 p.m.

The first multi-flight tournament of the series starts on Aug. 22 with two sessions of the $300 Weekend Opener No-Limit Hold'em. Days 1c and 1d run the following day, and everyone still standing will return on Aug. 24 to play down to a winner.

There are two seniors events scheduled (Aug. 24 and Aug. 31) for those 50 and above, both of the $300 No-Limit Hold'em variety. A Ladies Event, which costs $200 to enter, takes place on Aug. 29. Non-NLH enthusiasts can get their fix in three separate events, including the $400 Oklahoma State Pot Limit Omaha Championship on Aug. 28.

The main attraction will be the $800 Oklahoma State Championship Main Event, a no-limit hold'em event certain to bring in a massive field. Play begins with Day 1a at 11 a.m. on Aug. 29. Day 1b is slated for the same time on Aug. 30. All remaining players will return to the felt on Aug. 31 to crown a champion.

Players begin with 30,000 chips and play 40-minute levels. The opportunity to re-enter either starting flight upon busting is available up until registration closes at the start of Level 10. Stay tuned to PokerNews for live reporting coverage from start to finish in the Main Event.

The Oklahoma State Poker Championship series wraps on Sept. 1 with the one-day $300 Labor Day Super Monster Stack Grand Finale, a no-limit hold'em tournament that kicks off at 11 a.m.
