“Prior to the pandemic MSPT and Potawatomi Casino Hotel built a tremendous partnership, hosting some of the largest tournaments in the Midwest,” said Bryan Mileski, MSPT Founder and President. “Since that time, the local poker community had been starving for a Major series. When Potawatomi Casino completed their amazing $200M renovation and opened their beautiful new poker room, we at the MSPT couldn’t have been more excited to bring back a Major series to Milwaukee.”

“We know the demand for poker in Wisconsin is higher than ever so we are proud to partner with MSPT and to welcome poker players from throughout the Midwest,” said Dominic Ortiz, CEO and GM of Potawatomi Casino Hotel. “These tournaments are a tremendous opportunity to provide an elite poker atmosphere and to showcase the amazing amenities we have at Potawatomi to the MSPT players.”

The MSPT was last at Potawatomi January 30-February 2, which marked its return to the venue for the first time since the pandemic. The tournament attracted a massive 1,697 entries, surpassing the venue’s previous record of 1,658 runners set back in 2017. Timothy Thorp is the current reigning champ after defeating Umut Ozturk in heads-up play to claim a $244,362 top prize.

MSPT Burger at Players Bar

From Monday, September 22, through Sunday, September 28, a special promotion will take place at Players Bar in Madison, Wisconsin, involving their famous “Burger of the Week.”

The MSPT has graciously put up a $1,110 Main Event seat that will be randomly awarded to someone who buys the special MSPT Burger during the above time period.

The MSPT Burger is a unique recipe comprised of a thick beef patty topped with spicy cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and macaroni & cheese mixed with sliced State Street Brats, a Wisconsin staple.

What’s more, $2 from every burger sold will go to the Ronald McDonald House charity.

To be eligible, all you have to do is order an MSPT Burger from Players Bar, take a picture of yourself, and post it to any one of the following:

  • The Players Bar Facebook page
  • On X/Twitter tagging @ChadAHolloway & @msptpoker
  • On Instagram tagging @DISCO_CHAD & @msptpoker
  • On the Madison Poker Community (MPC) Facebook page
  • On the MSPT Facebook page

Do that, and you’ll be entered to win the $1,110 seat into the 2025 MSPT Wisconsin Poker State Championship at Potawatomi Casino.

Multiple entries are allowed for every MSPT Burger that you purchase, take a picture of, and post limited to one per day. A winner will be randomly selected on Tuesday, September 30, and contacted via the social media platform on which they submitted their photo.

The actual seat, which is non-transferable, will be facilitated on-site by the MSPT.

Players Bar has been a staple in the Wisconsin poker scene for decades. It is where Phil Hellmuth Jr. used to play before he won the 1989 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, and he still returns there from time to time.

In fact, he was just there a month ago, where he played some cards again, bar owner and OG online gringer Mark “Poker Ho” Kroon, and our very own Chad Holloway, as seen starting at the 13:22 mark in this episode of the PokerNews Podcast.
