History was made at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Jeju over the weekend as Jun Obara delivered a performance for the ages to become the tour’s first-ever Japanese champion.

Obara ended a nine-year drought for his country by winning the $40,000 Mystery Bounty on Friday, just days after finishing runner-up in the inaugural Triton One $5K Bounty Quattro. However, on this occasion, there was no stopping the bounty hunter from Morioka.

The popular pro, who also goes by the moniker "misawa," not only lifted the trophy but scooped an extraordinary 17 mystery bounties, banking $699,000 in prize money and another $1,040,000 in precious envelopes along the way.

One of those came in a clash with Chinese-born New Yorker Ren “Tony” Lin, producing one of the most brutal cooler flops you're ever likely to see at a Triton final table.

Despite the demolition job, Obara would modestly downplay his triumph, telling Triton media following his win, “Every time lucky. Lucky only!" And while that wasn't true of his entire performance, few would have disagreed with that assessment on this hand at least.

Check it out below:

"Not Like That!"

The action picked up as Lin shoved for 205,000 with AK, only for Obara to snap back all in for his massive 4,690,000 chip lead holding 109. The rest of the table folded, leaving the two players heads-up, laughing and joking as they tabled their hands.

What came next was one of the most brutal flops you’re likely to see, as the dealer fanned 687, leaving Lin nearly dead on the felt after Obara flopped the nut straight.

The reaction was immediate. Lin yelped in anguish and held his head in his hands while everyone else looked on in amazement, Martin Kabrhel’s iconic “not like that!” catchphrase audible across the table.

Lin would have needed runner-runner spades to stay alive, but the A on the turn sealed the deal for Obara, who collected yet another of his seventeen total bounties.

The dealer completed the board with Q, and a smiling Lin fist-bumped Obara before making a gracious exit to the rail. Obara scooped the 305,000 pot, adding another victim on his march to victory.

More Bounty Action & Star-Studded $150k NLH Field Headline Monday in Jeju

Bounty action continues at Landing Casino as the $50,000 Triton Bounty Quattro gets underway, an event no doubt on Obara’s radar after his recent results.

Meanwhile, Day 2 of the star-studded $150K NLH 8-Handed is underway, with a field packed full of the game’s biggest names competing for one of this Super High Roller Series’ largest prizes.

Superstars including Jason Koon, Alex Foxen, and Triton Ivan Leow Player of the Year frontrunner Artur Martirosian are all grinding, with $4,107,000 up top for the winner.
