Artur Martirosian and Alex Foxen are leading the way in this year’s Triton Poker Ivan Leow Player of the Year award, with just days remaining before one of poker’s most prestigious prizes is claimed.

The Russian crusher, who has enjoyed a phenomenal year on the Triton circuit, currently sits in pole position, but with the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju II offering a final chance to earn points, the crown is far from decided at Landing Casino.

Now in its fourth season, the award spans a full calendar year of Triton events and recognizes the player who has shown the most consistency and skill across what is surely poker’s toughest proving ground.

This year's race has been particularly intriguing thanks to the inclusion of the Triton One festival, where $10,000 and above buy-ins counted toward the leaderboard, giving contenders more opportunities than ever to climb the standings.

Alongside a $200,000 cash prize and a lavish victory ceremony, the winner will lift what is undoubtedly one of poker’s most beautiful trophies, the silver Ivan Leow award.

Named in honor of the Triton legend and founding player who sadly passed away in 2022, the accolade has previously been claimed by elite names such as Danny Tang and Jason Koon.

With just nine days to go, let’s take a look at how the race is shaping up and whether anyone can wrestle the lead from two-time Triton winner Martirosian.

Will King Artur Reign?

Calculated using a combination of finishing place (points), buy-in amount (multiplier), and total entries, Martirosian currently sits on 4,442 points after an astonishing 20 cashes on the Triton tour this year.

The three-time WSOP bracelet winner has shown remarkable consistency across the entire season, never finishing outside the top four of points awarded for Player of the Festival at any of the three previous stops in Monte-Carlo, Jeju, and Montenegro.

Hot on his heels is Alex Foxen, who claimed his third Triton title in the $25K NLH 8-Handed event in Montenegro back in May. Sitting on 4,022 points, Foxen is by far Martirosian’s closest challenger and the only other player to surpass the 4,000-point mark so far during this cycle.

As you would expect from a Triton leaderboard, the rest of the top five reads like a poker who’s who, with Dan Dvoress, Jesse Lonis, and Punnat Punsri (a mere $90m+ in live earnings between them) all still in pursuit, though they face a steep climb if they hope to overtake the Russian.

Triton One Shakes Up the Points Race

The inaugural Triton One festival has added a new layer to this year’s Triton Player of the Year race, with points no longer restricted to Super High Roller Series events.

All Triton One tournaments carrying buy-ins of $10,000 and above have fed into the standings, and Singapore’s Jun Hao Wu took full advantage by winning the $15K Triton One High Roller last week for $969,000. That result currently sees him on top of the Jeju II Player of the Festival contest.

Keeping hold of that lead will be another challenge entirely, though. With a packed schedule still ahead in Jeju, Hao Wu faces the unenviable task of trying to fend off poker’s biggest names as the biggest events of the week are set to shuffle up and deal in the coming days.
