Força Brasil!
The World Poker Federation (WPF) and the Poker Tournament Directors Association (TDA) are heading to Brazil for their latest summit.
The last was held in Taiwan earlier this year, and now the Latin American version is set to take place this December at the WTC Sheraton hotel in São Paulo.
Following the culmination of the BSOP Millions, the event will bring together the leading professionals responsible for managing, regulating, and developing poker tournaments throughout the region.
According to organizers, more than 150 experts have already confirmed their attendance, and the total number of participants is expected to surpass 200. In addition to directors and organizers from different Latin American countries, the Summit will also welcome guests from Asia and Europe.
Latin America in the Spotlight on the World Stage
Recent years have seen huge progress for poker in Brazil and the wider continent. Professional structures, a large volume of events, and well-organized operations have made the region, especially Brazil, an international benchmark. The Summit aims precisely to consolidate this environment, promoting technical alignment, exchange of experiences, and cooperation among the entities that drive the game in the region.
"This Summit in Latin America reflects our mission at the World Poker Federation to connect, professionalize, and elevate poker worldwide," said Leonardo Cavarge, CEO of WPF. "It is about building collaboration and recognition for those who make the game stronger every day."
Leaders Who Shaped Poker in Brazil
The Latin American edition will feature key figures in the development of the continent's main circuits. Among them is Devanir "DC" Campos, a member of the TDA board, co-founder of the BSOP and CEO of Stack Eventos.
"Brazil has one of the most advanced tournament structures in the world and events like this strengthen that foundation," said Campos. "The Summit is an opportunity to share our experience, exchange ideas, and keep raising the standard for poker across Latin America."
Another key figure is Alberoni "Bill" Castro, president of the Brazilian Confederation of Texas Hold'em (CBTH) and Director of Sports at WPF. He has played a decisive role in expanding the governance of the game and integrating official entities. Completing the group of experts are Roberto Soares, "Bob," tournament director of BSOP, LAPT, CCTH, and a member of the PCA team, as well as Marcus Júnior, also a tournament director of BSOP. Both bring practical experience in managing some of the busiest festivals in the hemisphere.
Technical Content and Essential Debates
The Summit will feature a full day of activities, following the successful format of the Asian edition: panels, presentations, case studies, and open debates. Among the topics that will be highlighted:
- Use of shot clock and its impact on the pace of the game;
- Challenges in controlling disruptive behavior;
- Limits on chatting at the table;
- Standardization of procedures between different countries.
Participants will also have the opportunity to interact in Q&A sessions and exchange experiences with directors who lead some of the continent's largest circuits. The complete schedule is available on the official event page.
Participation of the WPF Women’s Committee
The WPF Women’s Committee will be present at the Latin American edition. Responsible for global initiatives such as the WPF Ladies Weekend, the group arrives at the Summit focused on expanding discussions about inclusion and supporting directors in the region in creating more diverse environments within tournaments.
Strengthening the Future of Poker in the Region
The TDA + WPF Continental Summit is part of an international series of meetings that seek to harmonize standards, promote cooperation, and value the professionals who build competitive poker worldwide.
"This Summit reinforces Brazil’s leadership in poker and the importance of collaboration between federations," said Alberoni Castro. "Through CBTH, we are proud to help connect Latin America’s poker community and strengthen the sport’s structure for the future."
With São Paulo as the host city in 2025, Latin America is moving forward with greater alignment, shared knowledge, and joint action – fundamental ingredients.
