High Roller Attempts Gutsy Bluff Against Set of Kings in $1 Million Pot
One of the biggest bluff attempts of the year took place Tuesday evening during one of the biggest livestreams of the year, and it led to a pot north of $1 million.
The hand occurred in the Hustler Casino Live Million Dollar Marathon Game, a 24-hour livestream featuring some of the show's most entertaining players, such as Nik Airball, Alan Keating, and polarizing high roller superstar Martin Kabrhel is set to join at some point.
Action Poker Game
It took no time for the chips to be passed around the table in the $500/$1,000 no-limit hold'em game, which also included a $2,000 big blind ante. The game is expected to run until around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 24 hours after it began at Hustler Casino in Los Angeles.
Keating, who blew the door open on the WSOP documentary AI scandal last month, showed up about 90 minutes into the game and he became the first to buy-in for $1 million (the rest started with $500,000). He quickly made his presence felt, turning a set to crack Steve's lesser flopped set. But the river card brought a third spade and it killed off the action in what could have been a seven-figure pot.
Those disappointed they didn't get to see a $1 million early pot didn't have to wait much longer for their wishes to come true. The hand began with Brandon Steven, the under-the-gun player, raising to $4,000 with 10♥10♣. Airball called from the lojack with Q♦10♦, before Sam Kiki (aka "Senor Tilt"), made it $50,000 to go with K♠K♥.
Steven, a high-stakes grinder who owns multiple car dealerships, called, while Airball sent his hand into the muck. The flop came out 2♥3♣4♦, which didn't improve either pocket pair, although both liked what they saw after three small cards appeared.
Kiki bet $80,000 and received a call before the A♠ on the turn set off some alarm bells for both players. Senor Tilt checked, only to face a $127,000 wager. He made the call to hit a set with the K♣ on the river.
Kiki, despite having a big hand, checked with four cards to a straight on the board. Steven, the smaller stack with $282,000 behind, moved all in, turning his pocket pair into a bluff. That bluff, however, was unsuccessful, as Senor Tilt snap-called to take down a $1,083,000 pot less than three hours into the 24-hour Hustler Casino Live marathon livestream.
At the time of publishing, Steven was the biggest loser in the game, already down $734,000. No surprise, Kiki was the biggest winner, up around $400,000. Kabrhel, who has won two World Series of Poker bracelets this year, will be joining the livestream at around 8:15 p.m. PT on Tuesday.
