Recreational Player Makes One of the Best Folds You'll See All Year

Flush Over Flush

One of the sickest folds you’ll ever see came during the Super High Roller Cash Game at the PokerGO Studio, where a $500/$1,000 lineup packed with elite talented pros and fearless recreational high rollers.

Played out over three days with consistently ridiculous lineups, Wednesday's night’s table featured stars like Andrew Robl, Jason Koon Nacho Barbero and more.

But the hand that stole the show, was a pot that had every reason to explode past seven figures, but somehow it never even got close.

Fold of the Year Already Locked Up?

Sameh Elamawy

With the straddle on, Sameh Elamawy limped in for $2,000 holding K10, and Eric Wasserson also tried to see a cheap flop, calling with 64. Justin Gavri, seated to Wasserson’s left, wasn’t having any of it and bumped the price to $8,000 with A9.

Action folded around to the straddler Evan Sofer, who made the call, and both Elamawy and Wasserson came along as well, sending four players to the flop.

The board came 482, giving Wasserson the lead with a pair of fours, while both Elamawy and Gavri picked up flush draws. The action checked around to Gavri, who fired $20,000 with his nut flush draw. Elamawy, holding the inferior flush draw, wasted no time making the call, and after some thought, Wasserson called as well.

With more than $100,000 already in the pot, the 7 turn changed nothing, keeping Wasserson out in front. Once again it was checked to Gavri, who elected to check behind and see a free card.

The J came on the river, giving Elamawy the second-nut flush and he led out for $50,000. Wasserson quickly got out of the way, but Gavri, now holding the stone-cold nuts, took his time before announcing a raise to $250,000.

In most scenarios, this is where Elamawy would be licking his chops, preparing to three-bet jam for the remaining $291,000 in Gavri’s stack, or at the very least snap off the call.

Instead, Elamawy instantly showed visible disgust, let out a loud groan, and said, “I would call Wass.” The comment stunned announcer Brent Hanks, who exclaimed, “Oh my god, is he going to fold number two?!”

Moments later, Elamawy shook his head, said ‘Nope,’ and slid the second nuts into the muck. Gavri then tossed his cards over to Elamawy to ease his mind and confirm the excellent fold, before dragging a pot that somehow never reached seven figures.
