Third Time's a Charm For Dane in the 888poker $100K RAKELESS Mystery Main
Table Of Contents
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," must be a motto that Denmark's "otteotteotte" holds dear to their heart after they won the latest edition of the $100,000 RAKELESS Mystery Bounty Main Event at 888poker on their third bullet.
Their first $109 rakeless entry saw them bow very early into the tournament's proceedings, with a second bite of the cherry ending in 541st place. However, the stars aligned on bullet number three, and "otteotteotte" came out on top of a 930-strong field to capture the title and a $9,043 cash prize.
The Dane finished Day 1 with a narrow chip lead over Brazilian "Klebersonw" and emerged as a worthy champion 2.5 hours after the eight-handed final table sprang into life.

| 3 | M.Baranov | Ukraine | 2,227,628 |

| 7 | Wall7824 | United Kingdom | 850,466 |
| 8 | POTCHECKER99 | Germany | 845,228 |
Start of the day short stack, "POTCHECKER99," was the first finalist relieved of their chips, though it took 45 minutes for that first elimination. "POTCHECKER99" had seen their stack dwindle to less than four big blinds, and they committed those from late position with jack-ten. "otteotteotte" called with queen-eight in the big blind, flopped an eight, avoided a flush draw, and sent "POTCHECKER99" to the rail.
"Kopykane," "POTCHECKER99"'s fellow German, busted in seventh place on the very first hand back after the first scheduled break. The action folded to "otteotteotte" on the button, and they min-raised with ten-six offsuit. "Kopykane" three-bet all-in from the small blind with ace-eight of spades for 4.5 big blinds, and the initial raiser called. A six on the river struck the final blow, and the final table was down to six players.
Those six became five with the elimination of "Wall7824," who lost a coinflip against "M.Baranov." The latter min-raised on the button with king-queen of diamonds and quickly called when "Wall7824" three-bet all-in for around 14 big blinds with pocket sixes from the small blind. A king landed on the flop and ultimately held to send another player to the showers.
A battle of the blinds less than 10 minutes after the demise of "Wall7824" saw "Klebersonw" bow out in fifth. "provoker23" open-shoved from the small blind with what turned out to be ace-nine of hearts, and "Klebersonw" called off their 11 big blinds with king-eight. An eight on the turn looked to have won the pot for "Klebersonw" but a third heart on the river gifted "provoker23" a hand-winning flush and resigned the at-risk player to a fifth-place finish.
"provoker23 " was the next player eliminated despite winning "Klebersonw"'s chips. They came unstuck when they ripped in 22 big blinds with queen-jack from the small blind and lost to the dominating ace-jack of "marconi_fast." That left them nursing a two big blind stack and they busted soon after.
The tournament progressed to heads-up when "marconi_fast" was sent packing by "M.Baranov." "marconi_fast" moved all-in on the river of a draw-heavy board with top pair, but "M.Baranov" looked them up with a king-high straight.
"M.Baranov" held a 76.1 to 63.4 big blind advantage over "otteotteotte" at the start of heads-up play, but it didn't take long for the Dane to erode that lead. The chip lead exchanged hands several times over the next hour before a huge hand all but handed "otteotteotte" the victory.
"M.Baranov" five-bet jammed with pocket tens and was called by "otteotteotte" holding pocket nines. Although the five community cards fell without a nine in view, there were four diamonds, and "otteotteotte" had the nine of diamonds in their hand.
"otteotteotte" now held a colossal 80.2-to-7 big blind lead over their final opponent. "M.Baranov" managed to double their stack, but the Poker Gods were not on their side. The final hand saw "M.Baranov" completed the small blind before calling off their 13 big blinds with ace-queen. "otteotteotte" flipped over ace-eight. An ace on the flop kept "M.Baranov" ahead, but an eight on the turn left them drawing thinly. A brick on the river, and it was all over.
