Shrikant Pillamarapu Wins WPT Prime Lodge Championship in Texas
Table Of Contents
The final table in the $1,100 WPT Prime Lodge Championship saw a player (correctly) fold an ace-high flush and another player bust one hand after refusing a three-way chop.
In the end, Shrikant Pillamarapu came out victorious in the $1 million guaranteed tournment in Texas after a heads-up chop with Kenneth Quattrocchi. The tournament, held at The Lodge Card Club, had some wild moments, one beeing a player running out of time and having to fold pocket aces preflop.
Champion Mounts a Comeback
Pillamarapu entered the final table on Monday with the smallest stack. But it wasn't a traditional small stack, as he returned to action with 25 big blinds, more than enough chips to spin up a stack and win the tournament.
In one crazy hand, Quattrocchi nearly lost almost his entire stack to the eventual champion on a bad beat. He had A♣5♣ on a board of K♦9♣8♣10♣, good for the ace-high flush, and he called a bet of 3,000,000, about half the size of the pot. Pillamarapu, who had A♦J♣ for an open-ended straight flush draw, then completed his straight flush with the Q♣ on the river.
He went for maximum value, moving all in against his slightly bigger-stacked opponent. Quattrocchi wend into the tank before correctly folding his hand.

When three-handed play began, Quattrocchi, Pillamarapu, and David Urban were given an opportunity for an ICM chop. The Lodge staff came over and announced the payouts, but Urban, the smallest stack decided he didn't like the deal and wanted to play it out as is.
On the following hand, it momentarily appeared he made a wise decision. Urban picked up Q♦Q♣ and got it all in against Quattrocchi's A♥7♦. If the board would have run out clean for Urban, he would have moved into second place. But the A♦ hit on the flop and he was out in third place for $75,000, about $10,000 less than he was offered in the chop.
Quattrocchi, the new chip leader, and Pillamarapu would then agree to a chop before playing it down to a winner. Pillamarapu would take over the lead and finished it off by winning a race. The champion received $148,527 and a $10,400 seat into the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegs in December, while the runner-up took home $126,733.
