Originally from Columbus, Ohio, but now residing in South Florida, Joey Couden is a professional poker player with more than $3.1 million in lifetime earnings dating back to 2008, according to The Hendon Mob. That includes a career-best score of $251,523 for finishing fourth in the 2018 World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, and two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet victories.
Couden first cashed at the WSOP in 2009, doing so in the $2,500 Limit/No-Limit Hold'em Mixed event. At the 2012 WSOP, Couden enjoyed his first WSOP final table appearance, finishing fourth in the $2,500 Eight Game for a then-career-best $76,841.
Several five-figure scores followed before Couden banked a pair of $100,000+ prizes in the space of a month. First, he won a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event in Pompano Beach for $154,762 in July 2015. Less than a month later, Couden collected $150,000 for a sixth-place finish in the $5,250 NLHE Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.
In April 2018, Couden finished fourth in the $3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for $251,523. That summer, he won the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better event at the WSOP for his first bracelet and $244,370.
Couden continued going deep in bracelet-awarding events, including several final table appearances, but a second bracelet continued eluding him. That was until the 2025 WSOP when Couden triumphed in the $500 No-Limit Hold'em Salute to Warriors for $187,937 and his second piece of WSOP hardware.
