"When you face sudden aggression, especially on the river, slow down," says Tardif. "Ask which hands are actually in their range, and what price you are getting. A scary line is seductive: it tempts you to give them a stronger range than the action supports, to put them on the nuts when the story does not add up, and to forget the pot odds sitting right in front of you."
