Netanel Minyan Bags the Biggest Stack on Day 1c of the 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
888poker LIVE Barcelona

The third and final opening flight of the 2018 888poker LIVE Barcelona €1,100 Main Event at Barcelona Casino was a huge success. A total of 322 entrants participated in Day 1c, joining the 382 entrants on the first two opening flights to bring the total field size to 704 entrants.

A total of 94 players bagged chips on Day 1c. This means Day 2 will feature at least 196 players when factoring in the 59 that qualified on Day 1b and 43 that qualified on Day 1a.

The field will continue to grow as late registration will remain open until the start of first level of play in Day 2 tomorrow at 2 p.m.

All eyes were on Norway's Jon Kyte throughout the day as he eliminated two opponents during the first blind level and seemingly never looked back. In fact, until the final hands were dealt, he was one of four closely bunch players that appeared would bag the most chips for the day.

While he bagged a healthy top 10 stack of 210,900, it was Israel's Netanel Minyan who finished on top of the Day 1c chip leaderboard with 300,100 in chips.

Bagging the second most chips was Minyan's countrymate Roni Tal with 272,300. Just 700 chips behind Tal was Kyte's friend from Norway Stian Knutsen with 271,600.

Even though Minyan bagged a ton of chips, he will head into Day 2 in fifth place. Turkish high roller Day 1b chip leader Orpen Kisacikoglu will be the player on the top of the leaderboard heading into tomorrow's play with 381,900 in chips followed by Day 1a chip leader Gianny Dominique Morano in second place with 363,000.

Also bagging chips was 888poker Ambassador Parker Talbot with a stack of 71,500. This appeared very unlikely to happen after Talbot fired two bullets and shared he was likely to sit out until the start of Day 2 to fire a third one. However, he got into the action near the end of the day and managed to more than double up with pocket nines.

Fellow 888poker Ambassador Fernando Pons survived the day with a stack of 82,800. However, fortunes were less good for 888poker Ambassadors Natalie Hof, Sofia Lovgren, and Vivian Saliba, who all hit the rail near the end of the day.

The action resumes tomorrow at 2 p.m. CEST with Day 2 before concluding on Monday with one final day.

Stay tuned to PokerNews as we bring you coverage of the rest of the 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event.

Strike Two for Talbot

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Parker Talbot

Parker Talbot is back on the rail. He opened from middle position and got three callers. The flop came {3-}{9-}{8-} and Talbot bet 6,000. The player on the button called and the other two players folded.

Talbot then jammed for 28,000 after the {5-} appeared on the turn. His opponent called and turned over {7-}{6-} for the nut straight and Talbot was drawing dead with {A-}{A-}.

The 888poker Ambassador shared that he will likely take the rest of the day off and fire a third bullet before the start of tomorrow's Day 2.

Sneaky Quads for Kyte

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There are now two big stacks over on Sofia Lovgren's table. Unfortunately for the 888poker ambassador, neither of them belong to her as she has about 32,000 in chips.

One belongs to Bjorn Wiesler with 138,000 in chips and the other to Jon Kyte with 157,000. Kyte's stack just got a boost with the help of a bunch of ladies.

A player in early position limped before Wiesler in late position limped behind. Kyte jacked it up to 6,500 from the small blind and both players called.

Kyte checked the {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop before the early limper led out for 11,000. Wiesler folded and Kyte called.

Both players checked after the {q-Spades} appeared on the turn. The {5-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Kyte let his time bank wind down a bit before he bet 18,000. He got a call from his opponent and turned over {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for quad queens.

Strike One for Talbot

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

A player opened up from middle position for 1,100 before Manuel Navarro Perez three-bet to 3,200. 888poker Ambassador Parker Talbot looked down at his hand and let his time bank tick down.

As it was approaching zero, he four-bet jammed for around 21,000. The opener folded and Perez snap-called.

Perez: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Talbot: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}

Talbot shook his head at his misfortune. He then shook his opponent's hand after the board ran out {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

Talbot earlier shared he would enter as much as it would take. However, he decided to take a break after his first strike into the tournament didn't go well. He shared with PokerNews that he will likely reenter today but worst case he will get in before the start of tomorrow.

Kyte Takes Out Two

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Jon Kyte
Jon Kyte

Jon Kyte is well-known in Norway and now throughout Europe as a tough action player. He wasted no time getting involved in a hand we already reported earlier and just a few minutes ago, he took out two players in one hand during the first blind level.

The action began with a short-stacked Luca Marchetti getting it all-in for 300 from under the gun. Kyte called from one seat over before Daniel Martin Cabrera to Kyte's left, three-bet to 1,000.

Kyte called and the flop came {7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Kyte led out for 2,000 before Cabrera raised to 7,000. Kyte three-bet all-in covering the around 15,000 Marchetti had behind and his opponent snap called.

Kyte: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Cabrera: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Marchetti: {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

When the cards were turned over, Kyte looked shocked and said, "Jacks, really?"

Kyte's top pair wasn't going to help but he still had a flush draw. The {k-Hearts} on the turn completed that draw and he scooped up a big pot after the {Q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Kyte then shook Cabrera's hand and the two exchanged pleasantries before Cabrera and Marchetti left the table.

Welcome to Day 1c of the 2018 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event

888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event
888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event

Welcome to the third and final opening flight of the 888poker LIVE Barcelona €1,100 Main Event.

The 888poker LIVE Barcelona festival boasts a plethora of tournaments from May 24 to June 4 with a total of $1 million in guaranteed prize pools. More than half of this, or €500,000 is guaranteed for the Main Event alone.

With two days in the books, it appears likely the guarantee will be smashed. Day 1a attracted 168 entrants with 43 survivors while Day 1b attracted 214 entrants with 59 survivors.

Currently, four of the survivors have amassed at least 300,000 in chips. Day 1b chip leader Orpen Kisacikoglu, thus far leads the pack with 381,900 in chips. On his tails are Day 1a chip leader Gianny Dominique Morano with 363,000, Jhen Siang Jian with 333,500, and Joel Isla Gonzalo with 323,900.

Among the many players expected in the Day 1c field to grab the chip lead out of Kisacikoglu's hands are the many of the 888poker Ambassadors in attendance.

Players that entered previous flights can also join today's field and unlimited reentries are permitted up until the start of Day 2 on June 3. Players bagging chips and surviving tomorrow's Day 2 action will play until a champion is crowned on Day 3 on June 4.

The structure for Day 1c is identical to the two previous opening flights with players starting off with 30,000 in chips, blinds increasing every 45 minutes, and 12 blind levels.

The structure of the Main Event will be deeper on Day 2 and beyond with blinds increasing every hour.
