Gurrutxaga's Aces Cracked

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Jon Gurrutxaga
Jon Gurrutxaga

The cards were all but rushed away and the dealer announced a seat open on table 20 seat 9, which prompted the departure of Jon Gurrutxaga. Oriol Gregori was the one that received the chips and was kind enough to explain the details in Spanish.

According to Gregori, he opened and called a three-bet by Gurrutxaga, Francesco Di Profio also cold-called the three-bet. On a queen-ten high flop with two diamonds, all players checked and another diamond on the turn saw a check-raise of Gregori and the push of Gurrutxaga. Di Profio folded and Gregori looked up his countryman with {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the made flush.

Gurrutxaga had aces with the {a-Diamonds} and the river was a blank. It won't be long to see the Spaniard back in action, however, as Gurrutxaga already re-entered.

Gordillo Eliminated by Di Giacomo

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

With 13,000 in the middle and the flop showing {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Claudio Di Giacomo checked and Francisco Gordillo pushed for the last 12,500.

Di Giacomo asked for a count and Gordillo was about to turn over his cards as he understood call. It took just a few further seconds and Di Giacomo then confirmed he'd call the shove to create the following showdown.

Francisco Gordillo: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Claudio Di Giacomo: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The {a-Clubs} turn immediately improved Di Giacomo, and the {k-Clubs} river changed nothing anymore.

Collina From Hero to Zero in Two Hands

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Silviu Baltateanu raised the {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop to 6,800 when facing a bet and a call by Lamberto Collina. The {3-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Collina checked only to see Baltateanu to move all in for the last 10,000. Collina called and the cards were turned over.

Silviu Baltateanu: {7-Spades}{4-Spades}
Lamberto Collina: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Baltateanu was already on his way out, but the {5-Hearts} river improved the Romanian to a straight and sent Collina back down to 35,000 and with his head shaking.

Soon after, Collina clashed with fellow Italian Giuseppe Carbone and they got it in after the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades} turn. Collina turned over {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the second nuts and Carbone had the best of it with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. The {9-Spades} river was a blank and Carbone took over the lead close to the dinner break on Day 1b.
