Ashley Timms Leads Final 13 in Barcelona; Roca and Kurko in Contention

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Ashley Timms
Ashley Timms

Out of a field of 334 entries, only 13 players remain in contention to claim the biggest slice of the €320,640 prize pool in the 2022 888poker LIVE Barcelona €1,100 Main Event. It was a long day of live poker action at Casino Barcelona, as the money bubble burst during the ten levels of 60 minutes and the marquee tournament on the schedule almost reached the nine-handed final table.

Four players are within five big blinds at the top of the leaderboard and the UK's Ashley Timms leads the pack with 1,300,000 in chips despite being one of several contenders who re-entered during the first two levels of the day. The Brit is followed by Ewen Trevidy (1,240,000), Alexandre Ventura Bolet (1,220,000) and Sandro Hauser (1,125,000) as the only contestants with a seven-figure stack.

Also still in contention are popular Spanish online streamer Gerard "Gforcall" Carbo (915,000), Jose Manuel Gonzalez (900,000), 2017 WSOP Europe Main Event champion Marti Roca de Torres (740,000) and former EPT Barcelona Main Event runner-up Kimmo Kurko (550,000).

Two former 888poker LIVE Main Event champions came close to retaining their shot at a repeat victory but bowed out in the final stages of the day. Adrian Constantin was eliminated in 14th place for €4,000 while Bhavin Khatri had to settle for a payday of €2,800 after he was knocked out in 28th place.

Vivian Saliba was the only 888poker ambassador to reach the money stages and finished in 27th place for €2,800. She will be on her way to Las Vegas for the upcoming 2022 World Series of Poker almost immediately with a flight to catch the following day. Two other 888poker ambassadors were eliminated just before the money bubble as Samantha Abernathy and Chris Eubank Jr departed after the dinner break.

Both of them fell victim to a hot run of Khatri, who first flopped a set against the top pair of Abernathy and called down three barrels. World boxing champion Eubank Jr came up short with king-queen suited versus ace-queen in a preflop contest and also narrowly missed out the payout spots as well.

Fellow brand representatives Ian Simpson, Alexandre Mantovani, the Stream Team members Joshua Manley, Jordan Banfield and Rene Majed were just a few of the notables that bowed out during the penultimate day without anything to show for. They were joined on the rail by Melika Razavi, Maria Ho, Dan Cates, Gyeong Byeong Lee, Jorge Ufano, and €2,200 High Roller winner James Crawley-Boevey.

The last player to leave empty-handed was Day 1c chip leader Alejandro De Lucio Sanchez. After the elimination of Kami Hudson, the tournament was supposed to go into hand-for-hand mode but the last ongoing hand saw the Spaniard dominated with king-jack suited versus ace-jack suited to let the bubble burst.

That opened the floodgates in the final three levels as the field was rapidly cut down to the final two tables. All 13 survivors will return at 3pm local time on Monday, May 23, 2022 to the Cotton Club room at Casino Barcelona to determine the new 888poker LIVE Main Event champion.

Returning blinds will be 15,000-30,000 with a big blind ante of 30,000. All the action can be followed right here on PokerNews and via the 888poker TV Twitch channel, which broadcasts cards-up coverage on a security delay of 15 minutes.

Ewen Trevidy opened the action with a button raise to 40,000 and Adrian Constantin pushed his short stack from the small blind. The Frenchman asked for an exact count and sigh-called when it was deemed to be for 167,000 total.

Adrian Constantin: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Ewen Trevidy: {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Trevidy took the lead on the {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop and remained ahead throughout the {10-Hearts} turn as well as the {6-Spades} river. Constantin's bid for a second 888poker LIVE Main Event title ended in 14th place for €4,000.

Mitchell Hynam pushed for 98,000 on the button and received a call by Kimmo Kurko in the big blind.

Mitchell Hynam: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Kimmo Kurko: {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The clubs were dead but the {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} board gave Kurko a pair of tens eventually to eliminate Hynam in 16th place for a payday of €4,000.

Alin Grasu
Alin Grasu

Alin Grasu pushed all-in for 286,000 and Kimmo Kurko went all-in over the top for slightly more soon after the field was down to the final two tables.

"I have a flight to catch tomorrow, best of luck to you," Kurko joked as the cards were exposed.

Alin Grasu: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Kimmo Kurko: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop improved Grasu but he was down to two outs on the {9-Spades} turn, as Kurko had made nines full. None of the two remaining queens came on the {7-Spades} river and Grasu had to settle for 16th place and €4,000.

Alexander Delgado raised and subsequently four-bet jammed into the three-bet of Gerard Carbo, who had made it 85,000 to go. The jam was for 307,000 and Carbo called.

Gerard Carbo: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Manrique Doubles Through Hauser; Busts to Him After

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Henry Manrique
Henry Manrique

All-in with a very short stack, Henry Manrique escaped from elimination with {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} against the {a-Hearts}{2-Spades} of Sandro Hauser. The {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Hearts} board ensured that the kicker played for a full double.

However, the chips of Manrique went in soon after via three-bet shove and he was once more looked up by Hauser.

Henry Manrique: {j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Sandro Hauser: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

"Nothing is impossible," Hauser grinned and Manrique indeed gained equity with the {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop. The {9-Hearts} turn added a second gutshot but the {10-Diamonds} river brought no miracle escape for the Spaniard.

Khatri Flipped Out by Trevidy

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Bhavin Khatri
Bhavin Khatri

Bhavin Khatri raised in the cutoff and was called by Daniel Rueda Merino on the button. Ewen Trevidy then pushed all-in from the big blind and Khatri called for what appeared to be 380,000 while Rueda Merino folded with the words "I had pocket nines."

Bhavin Khatri: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Ewen Trevidy: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop gave Trevidy a set and the {9-Diamonds} turn left him drawing dead, which made the {4-Clubs} river a formality.

"If you had folded, I would have called ... so sick," Rueda Merino added.

Manrique Doubles; Avela Busts

Max Avela
Max Avela

Henry Manrique was all-in with the {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Sandro Hauser looked him up for 71,000 with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

The pocket pair was ahead on the {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop and {a-Clubs} turn but the {9-Diamonds} river counterfeited the sevens.

Shortly after on the same table, Max Avela got it in with the {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and in prime shape, as Adan Soler Fernandez only tabled {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. However, the ace got there on the {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds} runout to knock out the Finn.
