Orpaz vs Pishvaie

Level 28 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Saam Pishvaie opened to 300,00 from early position with {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Tom Orpaz defended his big blind with {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

The flop {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} did nothing but give Orpaz a gutshot straight draw and he checked. Pishvaie continued for 275,000 and Orpaz called.

The turn was the {7-Clubs} giving Orpaz a pair and he checked again. This time Pishvaie checked back and the river brought the {k-Clubs}

Orpaz opted to bet 300,000 into a pot of around 1,400,000 and Pishvaie folded.

Mario Sousa
Mario Sousa

Mario Sousa opened to 350,000 and Adrian Garcia defended his big blind.

The flop came {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Sousa immediately shoved for 1,600,000. Garcia rechecked his cards before calling.

Mario Sousa: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Adrian Garcia: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Garcia had flopped a flush draw but was behind to the ace-queen of Sousa. The turn was the {5-Clubs} giving Garcia additional outs to a straight. The river was the {3-Hearts} completing Garcia's flush and sending Sousa to the rail in ninth place.

Ten Cate Dodges Disaster to Double Through Bystrenin

Level 29 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Oleg Bystrenin opened to 400,000 in the hijack. Jonas Ten Cate was in the big blind and three-bet all in for 1,300,000. Bystrenin glanced at the clock and asked for a count before eventually calling.

Jonas Ten Cate: {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Oleg Bystrenin: {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Bystrenin didn't look pleased at having to make the call, and was dominated by his opponent. However, there was an eight in the window of a {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop.

However, the turn {a-Diamonds} instantly turned things around for Ten Cate as the {j-Hearts} completed the board and the Dutchman doubled up.

Analysis: Bystrenin Dictating the Tempo

Level 29 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event Final Table
888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event Final Table

It's been a tentative start at the final table for pretty much everyone apart from Oleg Bystrenin and perhaps Tom Orpaz. Even though Adrian Garcia was responsible for the only elimination so far, Bystrenin has been opening regularly from various positions on the table to try and dictate the tempo with such a big stack and commanding chip lead.

And he could have eliminated Jonas Ten Cate as a result of this aggression, were it not for an ace on the river to save the Dutchman.

Meanwhile, Orpaz is looking to regain the chip lead he lost to Bystrenin prior to the final table, and has overtaken Saam Pishvaie to occupy second in the chip counts.

888poker's Lucia Navarro and Ricardo Mateus had been pretty quiet, until just now went Navarro doubled up Jaime Pedraza, but there's still a long way to go with eight remaining in the 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event.

Jaime Pedraza Eliminated in 8th Place (€10,044)

Jaime Pedraza

Jaime Pedraza raised to 500,000 off of a 1,700,000 stack in early position and it folded to Tom Orpaz on the button who three-bet to 1,500,000. Pedraza shoved and Orpaz called off the rest of his stack.

Jaime Pedraza: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Tom Orpaz: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

There was no help for Pedraza on the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs} board and Pedraza was eliminated in eighth place.
