Vivian Saliba Leads the Team Into Day 2 of the 888poker Live Madrid Main Event

Four members of the 888poker team are still alive and in the hunt for the trophy as the race to the money begins on Day 2 of the €888 888poker Live Madrid Main Event.

The first three starting flights attracted 299 entries to the Casino Gran Via, with 111 players returning at 5 p.m. That includes 888poker ambassadors Vivian Saliba (114,000), Aaron Barone (102,000), defending champion Ian Simpson (85,000), and Lucia Navarro (82,000), who will be looking to keep the trophy within the family with a run to the final table today.

The entire field is looking up at Fernando Santa Maria, who took the chip lead with 375,000 into the event’s penultimate day. Daniel Wu (335,000), Shahrokh Morshedian (331,000), Mehdy El Fki (321,000), and Jorge Ufano (286,000) round out the top five.

The field can still grow much larger by the time registration closes and the prize pool is confirmed. There is a turbo Day 1d flight still to come at noon, while late registration remains open for the first level of Day 2. The action picks up on Level 14 with blinds of 1,000/3,000 and a 3,000 big blind ante. The plan is to play 11 40-minute levels today, or until the final table is reached.
