The first event of the WPTDS is now complete, and "Korpisoturi2" of Finland took down the big prize of $40,540. They battled through 293 entries in WPTDS #1 - $200,000 Opening Event over the two days to emerge victoriously.
The Finnish player was one of three players to get to the final table with more than a million chips, but they just barely made it there with 1,014,162 coming into the final day. Second place finisher "Tedson89" came in with 1,657,387 chips for second place to start the day, but couldn't withstand the Finnish thrust during heads-up play.
In fact, it looked to be a short heads-up when "Tedson89" took an early big lead after turning a straight, but it turned into a real battle, with both players holding the lead several times, and each at-risk several times.

Action of the Day
Just nine players came back for the final table on Day 2, but the day went very quickly. The first elimination was on the second hand of the day, and within the first 30 minutes, it was four-handed.
Things slowed down a bit from there, with "Korpisoturi2" and "Tedson89" trading the lead for another half-hour or so until start-of-day chip leader "Gprovinz6" ended their day in 4th place.
Canadian "DosPoochies", who had a massive lead at one point early in the final table after doing a lot of the early carnage, went out shortly thereafter in third by losing a race.
That set up an epic heads-up battle that took more than an hour to complete. It was a see-saw affair that saw both players with legitimate chances to win and lose the match, but it finally ended when "Korpisoturi2" turned trips to crack the aces of "Tedson89" for the win.
