The opening flight of the Ante Up Poker Tour Wild Horse Pass $400 Main Event is complete! A total of 221 entries made their way to the Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler, Arizona, to play the first of two Day 1 flights.

Those 221 entries were trimmed down to 36 Thursday, and those surviving players will come back Saturday for Day 2, joining the survivors of Friday's Day 1b flight and playing until a tournament champion is crowned.

At the end of the night it was Amir Doroudian (355,000), Tiffany Heniz (323,000), Alvaro Vasquez (313,000) and Adam Veselinovic (265,000) bagging big.

The action was fast paced right from the start on Day 1a and never slowed down, as the chips flew back and forth throughout the 30-minute levels. Play ended with 24:51 remaining in Level 16 (3000/6000/6000), as the original field had played down to 15 percent of the original number of entries.

The Day 2 flight will commence at 10 a.m. Friday, with the same structure players saw in Day 1a. The field will play through 30-minute levels, and play until 15 percent of the field remains.

The $100,000 guarantee is well on its way toward being smashed, and the eventual champion of the Main Event will no doubt be looking at a sizable payday.

Powers Doubles on the Bubble

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The under-the-gun player opened to 10,000, Greg Powers went all in for 56,000 on her direct left, and got a call from the original raiser.

Powers was covered going to the showdown.

Greg Powers: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Board: {5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Powers doubled up and the Day 1a elimination bubble continues.

The tournament is now being played hand-for-hand, with one elimination remaining until play wraps up for the night.

Wooten's Turn Bet Takes it Down

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} on the board, Becky Wootem bet 20,000 from the big blind.

Her opponent, on the hijack, thought over the decision for a bit before folding. Wooten has been hovering just under the 200k chip mark throughout the latter levels of Day 1a, and looks poised to bag a big stack at the end of the night.

Huge Pot for Veselinovic

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

A middle position player opened to 9,000, Adam Veselinovic three-bet to 23,000, and the original raiser called.

The middle position player led out for 15,000 on the {4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, and Veselinovic called. The middle position player then went all in on the {7-Spades} turn, having her opponent covered, and Veselinovic called.

Adam Veselinovic: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Veselinovic's pocket aces had his opponent drawing dead, and after the {3-Hearts} river the 265,000 pot went to him.
