Ante Up Poker Tour Heads to Jamul Casino September 20-29

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

From September 20-29, the Ante Up Poker Tour will head to Jamul Casino near San Diego, marking the first time the tour will hold a stop in Southern California.

Jamul Casino, located just 20 minutes from San Diego, opened its door back in February and is looking to follow up on its successful $550 Golden Cap Bounty Tournament that featured notable poker guests Norman Chad, Erick Lindgren, and Tiffany Michelle.

“Jamul Casino is thrilled to be the first San Diego poker room to partner with the Ante Up Poker Tour,” said John Rochfort, poker room manager.

The series starts Sept. 20 with a $300 buy-in, $40,000 guaranteed prize pool two-flight Kickoff Event, and ends not only with Day 2 of the Main Event, but also two other events – a $240 knockout event w/ $100 bounties and a $100 NLH Event that features chip leader bonuses. There will be a Player of the Series race with prizes as well.

Wusstig Gets the Best of O'Brien

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

In one of his first hands after registering in Level 4, Dan O'Brien found himself in a heads-up pot against Rudy Wusstig.

Wusstig, from under the gun, and O'Brien, in middle position, both put 3,000 in the pot on a {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop. Wusstig bet again on the {6-Hearts} turn, getting O'Brien to fold.

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Joseph Crowley
Joseph Crowley

With three players in the hand on a {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop, the action checked to Joe Crowley on the button, who bet 3,500. Ian Steinman called under the gun, and the third player called from middle position.

All three players checked through the {a-Hearts} turn. The {q-Clubs} came on the river, and Steinman bet 18,000, leaving just 100 for himself behind. The middle position player folded, and Crowley made the call.

Crowley turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}, taking in a massive pot and leaving Steinman severely short stacked.

O'Donnell Pays Tribute to Longtime Friend Cary Marshall

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Cary Marshall
Cary Marshall

Kevin O'Donnell is in the Main Event field on Day 1a, and he's already won two events at the Ante Up Poker Tour Atlantis Series.

One of those wins came in the 1st Annual Cary Marshall Memorial Western Seniors Poker Series, a $200 No-limit Event. Marshall passed away earlier this month, just weeks after finishing third in the Super Seniors event at the World Series of Poker for a career-best $162,536.

The poker community mourned the loss of Marshall, who was a three-time WSOP Circuit ring winner with nearly a million dollars in career tournament earnings. O'Donnell knew Marshall well, as the two teamed up to play the WSOP Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em event on four occasions.

O'Donnell paid tribute to his friend by taking down the tournament, newly renamed in tribute of Marshall, for a $4,900 payday.

Five players went to a {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, and the player in the big blind bet 300. David Badolato called from under the gun, and Mike Zimmer also came along in the cutoff.

The three players went to the {5-Clubs} turn, and the action checked to Zimmer, who bet 700, with both opponents calling.

The river came {3-Spades}, and Zimmer bet 1,500 when the action checked to him. Both opponents folded, giving Zimmer the pot.
