Another day of exciting poker action has entered the record books here on Day 1b of the 2012 Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Queenstown Snowfest Main Event. At the end of the day it was Ken Demlakian who emerged as the chip leader, bagging up an impressive 70,750 in chips.

The day yet again began with some of the best players from around the region, but unfortunately not all of those could survive the night. Some of those who hit the rail throughout the day include include Jacky Wang, Jesse McKenzie, Alex Lynskey and last year’s ANZPT Queenstown sixth-place finisher, Tom Grigg.

Managing to do far better than the above players were the likes of James Honeybone, Ivan Zalac and Jonathan Dangio as they bagged up plenty of chips. Also surviving the night and still in contention are Billy Argyros, Matt Wakeman, Michael Fadersen, Ben McLean and Ricky Kroesen. A full list of the survivors can be seen below and in our dedicated chip count page.

With five players from Day 1a having huge chip stacks, at this point in time, Demlakian will start Day 2 with the sixth largest chip stack. After all was said and done, it was exactly 31 players who survived Day 1b. They will join the 27 survivors from Day 1a and the eventual survivors from tomorrow’s Day 1c on Day 2.

Be sure to return to PokerNews tomorrow as the third and final Day 1 flight kicks off at 12:30 PM local time. Until then, goodnight from the snowy wonderland that is Queenstown, New Zealand!

All the players today will be chasing Australia's David Allan at the top of the chip counts. Allan had a great afternoon yesterday, bagging up 98,200 to become the Day 1a chip leader. Only time will tell who will have the most chips at the end of Day 1b.

All the action is set to commence at 12:30 PM local time and PokerNews will be here once again, bringing you all the live updates from the Queenstown Snowfest!
