Green versus Cameron

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

The masses have built up in the poker room, with hundreds of boxing fans crowding the empty spaces around the poker tables, and even the PokerNews media desk as shown below, anticipating the title fight between Australia’s Danny Green and New Zealand’s Shane Cameron. Even the players at the tables seem distracted, with most turning their heads to a neighbouring TV to watch the beginning of the clash.

It’ll either be “Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!” Or a celebratory Haka!

Only time will tell.

Lynn Gilmartin doesn't look too impressed with the invasion.

Sheynin Takes Out Opponent

We caught the action on a flop reading {5-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}, with the player in the small blind checking his option. The big-blind then bet out 2,200, but was met with a re-raise by Slav Sheynin to 5,800 in chips. The small-blind then instantly moved all-in for his remaining 14,200 which brought a fold from the original player.

“I have to call, sorry!” said Sheynin, as he tabled the {J-Spades}{4-Spades}.

He was behind to the flopped two-pair of his opponent holding {5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, but that all changed when the {9-Spades} came on the turn, completing his flush. The river fell the {6-Hearts} and it was all over for Sheynin’s opponent, who casually made his way from the table.

Howard-Smith Eliminated

Brooke Howard-Smith’s day was so up-and-down, that it wasn’t surprising to see him step up from his table, and make his way to the exit.

An opponent of Howard-Smith’s pushed all-in on the turn with the board reading {3-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and was met with a quick call.

Howard-Smith: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

Unfortunately for Howard-Smith, he was behind, and needed only a jack on the river to survive. It fell the {6-Spades} to see him eliminated from the tournament.

Warner Hovering Around Average

Passing Ashley Warner’s table, we saw a player open with a raise to 800. Warner called, and both players saw the flop fall {10-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Both players checked to see the turn drop the {6-Clubs}, and again Warner’s opponent checked. He bet out 1,100, and after a minute, his opponent folded.

Warner seemed a little upset, shaking his head, as he brought in the chips. He now sits on 22,000.
