Big Hand Goes To.. Oh Wait, Never Mind

Action started with Marc Wittkopf opening with a bet of 2,200. His opponent in middle position then raised to 5,300, which he called. The flop came {6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Wittkopf checked. His opponent then led out for 3,400, which was again called. Both players checked the {2-Spades} on the turn, before the {2-Hearts} fell on the river. Wittkopf counted out 4,700 in chips, which was snap-called.

Wittkopf: {A-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{k-Clubs}

A repeating deuce on the river saved Wittkopf, as he and his opponent chopped the pot. Wittkopf is still looking good, as he sits on 100,000 in chips.

Lee Hits Six-Figures

We arrived at the table to see Wen Tao, Jason Lee and Patrick Healy all limp into the pot. The flop came {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and Healy checked from the big blind. Next to act was Tao, who bet 2,000 before Lee re-raised to 4,500. Healy got out of the way and Tao called. The turn was the {K-Hearts} and again Tao checked. Lee calmly counted out another 4,500 in chips and placed them in the middle. Tao looked down at his chips, before relinquishing his hand.

With that win, Lee moves over 100,000 in chips.

Gao Triples, Harmon Eliminated

The biggest hand of the night just took place on Table 1. Jie Gao started things off by opening to 1,900. John Harmon in the small blind made the call, before Richard Lancaster in the big blind re-raised to 4,400. Both Gao and Harmon called to see the flop come out {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Harmon checked his option, and Lancaster continued with a bet of 6,600 in chips. Gao snap-called, but was met with an even quicker all in from Harmon, for 15,900. Lancaster thought he could end it there and then, by tossing in a stack or orange 5k chips, totaling 40,000. Gao instantly stood up and said “Alright, I call!” and slammed down his cards.

Gao: {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Harmon: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Lancaster: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Lancaster was in front with pocket kings, but had to dodge any heart, six, ten, jack or ace in order to eliminate both players. The {2-Clubs} on the turn missed everyone, but the {J-Spades} on the river gave Gao the straight to scoop a very large pot.

Caris Doubles Through Healy

Patrick Healy and Charles Caris just got involved in a big hand over on Table 2. It started with Healy raising from the small blind to 2,000. Caris then re-raised to 6,800 from the big blind, and was met with an instant all in. He snap called, and the cards were shown.

Caris: {a-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Healy: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

Caris had 27,000 in chips and needed to improve in order to double up through Healy, who had 52,000 in chips. The window card all but sealed up the hand as board ran out {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{A-Spades}{k-Hearts}{K-Spades} to give Caris a better two-pair, and the double.

Caris Still Grinding

Action started with Charles Caris opening with a bet to 1,300. He was called by the player on the button and in the big blinds. The flop came {8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, and the big blind checked. Caris continued with a bet of 2,075, and was called by only the player on the button. When the turn fell the {4-Diamonds}, Caris threw in several chips, valuing 4,075. His opponent mucked straight away.

Caris, who has been hovering just under 10,000 chips for most of the day, now sits on 17,000.

Lancaster Doubles

Over on Table 1, Richard Lancaster just doubled to over 70,000 in chips through John Harmon. It was recalled to us that a player in early position opened with a bet of 1,200. He had two callers, before John Harmon announced all in for 55,000. That’s not a typo. He was met with an instant call from Richard Lancaster, who had 32,000 in chips. Everybody folded and the two players showed their cards.

Harmon: {9-}{9-}
Lancaster: {A-}{A-}

The board ran out {8-}{2-}{J-}{2-}{K-} to see Lancaster move up to 75,000 and drop Harmon to 22,000 in chips.
