Broom Sweeps Up the ANZPT Perth Chip Lead

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour continued to take centre stage on Friday at Crown Perth in Western Australia, with Day 2 action of the ANZPT Perth Main Event keeping the attention of the local poker scene.

At the beginning of the day there were 108 hopefuls who hoped to start making their way toward the 24 money-paying positions and into the Day 3 line up. By the time it was all over, only 33 remained and it was James Broom who led the way.Broom's 317,300-chip stack will see him best pressed to burst into the money on Day 3 and in a good position to make it through to the final table.

Throughout the day we lost many well-known players from around the region, and around the world. Included in the casualties were both remaining Team PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang and Angel Guillen, while Michael Guzzardi, Monica Eastick, Melanie Weisner and the chip leader from the start of the day Jessie McKenzie also hit the rail.

Towards the end of the night there were several players in contention to finish up as the chip leader, but alas, only one could bag up the most chips and this time that player was prominent Australian poker pro James Broom. Close on Broom's heels are the likes of Pawel Zawadowicz, Kent Hunter and Iori Yogo.

Plenty of other notable players will join Broom in contention for the title including Ricky Kroesen, Dale Marsland, Ivan Zalac, Emanuel Seal and David Gorr. Be sure to check out all the end-of-day 2 chip counts and the Day 3 seating draw below.

Tomorrow will see the 35 remaining players become just a final table of nine. Make sure to join us from 12.30 as we once again bring you all the action of the ANZPT Perth Main Event!
