Tony Hachem is never one to shy away from telling the poker media about hands he’s involved in. We noticed that his starting stack had been halved shortly after taking his seat. He explained that he was involved in a hand against Patrick Healy, where he flopped two pair holding on a board reading . The turn came a giving Healy the better two pair holding and when the river didn’t improve his hand, he had sent 8,000 in chips across the table.
The action started with Dennis Huntly opening with a min-raise to 400 from under the gun. He was called by the player to his immediate left, plus the two blinds, who all saw the flop come . The player in the small blind led out for 1,100, bringing a fold from the big blind. Huntly then tanked for a minute before firing out 6,000, much to the surprise of the other players. The two other players in the pot both folded, as Huntly tabled to assure everyone he had the goods.
We stumbled upon the empty seat of Tony Hachem, and presumed he was eliminated from the tournament. Didier Guerin, also at the table, was able to fill us in on what had happened. Hachem committed his remaining 5,000 in chips holding on a board reading with two clubs. His opponent called holding , and when it ran out the and , Hachem would be sent to the rail, not able to add a 10th ANZPT cash to his impressive poker resume.
With a board reading , Milan Gurung checked his option from middle position, before facing a bet of 3,000 by Brad Bower in the cut off. He called, and again checked, when the river fell the . Bower instantly moved all in for his remaining 10,300 in chips, and after a minute in the tank, Gurung made the call.
“You got it!” sighed Bower, as his cards went straight into the muck.
“Good luck everybody,” said Bower, as he made his way out of the tournament.
With that hand, Gurung now sits on 38,000 in chips.
The action was caught with Iori Yogo, Aaron Benton and a third player all committing 1,125 on a flop reading . When the dropped on the turn, Yogo and Benton both checked, before their opponent placed out a bet totalling 2,200. Yogo got out of the way, but Benton came along to see the complete the board. He checked dark, then called a 5,000 bet and instantly folded when his opponent showed .
Benton now sits on 11,500 in chips as he tries to build his stack back up.
