Nick Oiberman Doubles

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We arrived at the table just as Nick Oiberman was raking in a large pot.

Oiberman had his {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} tabled and was awarded the pot after flopping a set on a king high board.

He has almost doubled his starting stack since the beginning of play.

Ivan Zalac Still Has Plenty

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The hand started with the player in middle position raising to 450 before Ivan Zalac bumped it up to 1,600 from the small blind. The bet was called before both players watched the flop come down {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

Zalac threw out a continuation bet totalling 1,400 and was called immediately before the {7-Hearts} dropped on the turn.

After a short pause, Zalac checked. His opponent then placed out 2,500 in chips, and took down the pot, after Zalac reluctantly folded his hand.

Even after that fold, Zalac has almost 50,000 in chips before the first break of the day.

Minh Hau Nguyen Makes The Fold

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

On a flop reading {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} the player on the big bling checked his option. His opponent in the hand was Minh Hau Nguyen, who bet out 700 from the hijack. The bet was called before both players watched the {4-Clubs} drop on the turn.

This time the big blind reached for his chips and tossed out 1,500 and was called shortly after.

The river brought the {3-Diamonds} and the player on the big blind splashed out 3,500 in chips. The bet sent Nguyen into the tank for over a minute before he opted to release his hand.

We're Almost There

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We have just been advised that 502 players have now taken their seats over the two flights.

There are also 10 additional players who are registered for the event but have not shown yet.

So the 516-player freeze out record set at last year's event looks like being broken. This would be a great addition to the prize pool record, which has now been broken as well.

James Obst and Paul Khoury Clash

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We arrived at the table to see Paul Khoury check his option from under the gun plus one on a {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop. James Obst was his opponent in the hand and tossed out 1,250 from middle position.

The bet was called before both players watched the {3-Clubs} drop on the turn. Khoury checked once again and watched as Obst splashed out 3,250 in chips. Khoury thought about his decision for almost a minute before calling the bet.

Both then opted to check the river before Obst reluctantly tabled his {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for a rivered two pair.

"It's good," joked Khoury, who tabled his {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for the same hand, but fell short with the inferior kicker.
