2010 Vic Poker Champs victor Michael Egan is climbing up the chip leader board after winning a 45,000-chip pot.
We caught up with the action with Egan calling an all-in preflop with and his opponent was at risk holding the .
It was a race and Egan took the lead with the flop and the - turn and river was no help for his opponent as he sent him to the rail. Egan is now working with close to 100,000 in chips.
Nino Qualita had an interesting story coming into Day 2 of the ANZPT Sydney Main Event and while he has unfortuantely been eliminated, we wouldn't want to spoil the story, so go check it out on the PokerStarsBlog.
The UK's James Rann is coming off a big fourth-place finish in the Aussie Millions Main Event. For that effort he picked up $430,000 - an amount he will be hoping to add to this week at ANZPT Sydney.
We recently watched Rann take down a pot against one player on a board. There was around 15,000 already in the middle when we arrived on the turn and at this point Rann and his opponent both checked. On the river, it was checked to Rann who bet 8,500. His opponent went deep into the tank and eventually called.
At showdown, Rann tabled for the rivered straight and scooped up the pot.
When a player opened it up to 3,100 from the hijack, Octavian Voegele would call from the cutoff, while Pravin Harji, from the button, would also call. All three players checked the flop and a hit the turn. This time the original preflop opener led for 5,000 and Voegele was the lone caller. On the river, Voegele and his opponent both checked and Voegele ultimately flashed a when his opponent showed for the win.
Despite losing this hand, Voegele is still cruising on around 180,000.
There will be two more levels before there is a 30-minute "dinner/lunch" break and we remind you that eight total levels will be played today, so six more.
The day should come to an end at around 9:20 p.m. local time.
