Aston Looking for More Sydney Success

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Former ANZ Player of the Year runner-up and previous third-place finisher of this very event, Anthony Aston, has just added some more chips to his large stack.

It was against Milan Gurung and we arrived on the {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop with almost 20,000 already in the pot. Gurung was in the cut-off position and checked it to Aston, who bet 11,000. Gurung decided not to call and the chips went to Aston.

Aston is now up to around 130,000.

Brett No Threat to the Big Stack

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Michael Pinzone’s large stack has grown some more.

Picking up the action from a {4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop, It was Brett Chalhoub versus Pinzone.

Pinzone was in the big blind and checked it to Chalhoub, who bet 3,700. Back on Pinzone and he would raise to 7,200. That amount isn’t a full raise, so it was forced to be a min-raise to 7,400. Chalhoub now made it 16,300 to go and after a few moments, Pinzone called.

On the {5-Spades} turn, Pinzone again checked and this time Chalhoub bet 17,200. Pinzone had a look at Chalhoub’s stack, saw he had around 60,000 behind and then put in a raise. Pinzone put out around 30,000, which wasn’t enough to raise yet again, but this time before the dealer could even say it was 34,400, Chalhoub had folded.

“Did you flop it?” asked Chalhoub to no response except a few laughs.

Crocodile Down

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

“One Croc down,” Billy Argyros said as he wandered past the media desk.

Apparently Argyros’ tournament came to an end when he got his chips in preflop holding {k-}{k-} and was outflopped by {10-}{10-}.

Reina Sends Two Home

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Joe Reina has recently eliminated two players to see his stack increase well into the six-figure region.

Reina held {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} when he had his two relatively short-stacked opponent's at risk holding {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and just like that we had lost two more players on Day 2 of the ANZPT Sydney Main Event.

Back To Play

Level 11 : 900/1,800, 200 ante

The players are back from their break and the cards are back in the air.

Approximately 120 returning players means an approximate stack of around 75,000.

Blinds are now 900/1,800 with a 200 ante.

After the next two levels, there will be an extended 30-minute break.

Poker Is Easy

Level 11 : 900/1,800, 200 ante

Josh Barrett has just told us about a massive hand which happened just prior to the break.

Apparently Barrett held {a-}{a-} in a three-way preflop all in pot and was up against... Yep, you guessed it, {k-}{k-} and {q-}{q-}.

Barrett faded a flush draw and scooped the massive pot.

In the past Barrett has played a lot of these ANZPT events, but over the last twelve months or so Barrett has been kept busy in other business ventures.

He might play more poker after this little escapade though.

"Why did I ever stop playing? joked Barrett. "Poker is easy."
