Break

The players are now on their final ten-minute break of the day. When they return we'll play one more level before play wraps up for the day.

Scott Stays Alive

Stewart Scott is hanging in there as he's just found a double up to get himself back to close to his original starting stack.

The play folded to the small blind who moved all in against the short-stacked Scott in the big blind who happily made the call.

Small Blind: {J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Scott: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{8-Spades} to give Scott the double up back to around 18,000 chips.

What Odds Putty?

Graeme Putt and Emad Tahtouh were discussing a potential last longer bet.

"How many chips do you have?" asked Tahtouh.

"About 40,000," was the reply from Putt.

"Ok, I'd need 20-1 than" responded Tahtouh.

"20-1? You'd need to give me 20-1!" said Putt.

He then grabbed tournament director Danny McDonagh looking for his thoughts.

"I think it would be an even money bet right now," said McDonagh, despite Tahtouh's 115,000 chip stack.

Scott Suffering

Stewart Scott is not smiling right now
Stewart Scott is not smiling right now
Stewart Scott is down to 8,000.

An opponent pushed all in and Scott re-pushed preflop to isolate him. Everyone folded allowing Scott to go head to head with the opponent.

Scott: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The flop was {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{9-Hearts} giving the opponent outs to the nine as well. The turn {3-Hearts} left him needing some help, till the {9-Clubs} spiked the river.

Shinzaki On A Roll

Michael Shinzaki
Michael Shinzaki
Michael Shinzaki is steamrolling his way through the late stages of today's play and after just taking down a nice pot, he's up to 110,000 and the chip lead.

Shinzaki raised from middle position to 1,550 and his only customer came from the big blind.

They checked the {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} flop before the {10-Spades} hit the turn. The big blind led out for 2,600 and Shinzaki made the call.

The river was the {6-Spades} and the big blind check-called the bet of 3,000. Shinzaki flipped over {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} for the nut flush as his opponent grimaced and mucked.

Neilson's Hopes Dashed

Daniel Neilson's day is done
Daniel Neilson's day is done
Daniel Neilson can do some sight-seeing around Auckland after being eliminated from the tournament.

A short-stacked Neilson shoved all in for about 9,000 chips with {K-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and an opponent who was even shorter called with {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Things looked good for Neilson through the {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop and {6-Diamonds} turn. Only for the {8-Diamonds} to spike the river.

That pot left Neilson down to 3,000 chips and a few hands later he pushed with {K-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, an opponent went into the tank, before making a pained call with {A-Spades}{j-Hearts}. The board ran out {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} to send the Sydneysider to the rail.

"Stewart Scott is not paying any more antes!" exclaimed the man himself at we passed by his table. "Stick around, this could get interesting!" he added.

Next hand, Scott raised it up to 1,500 which was met with raised eyebrows from his opponents.

"Is this your way of getting more antes?" laughed Emad Tahtouh, but the only non-believer was the gentleman in the big blind.

The flop landed {6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades} and it was checked to Scott who fired 2,000. His bet was met with a min-check-raise to 4,000 and Scott insta-folded as his frustrations grew even deeper.
