Hooray for Horan

Tim "LuckyShades" Horan raised to 275 from under the gun and was called by the button player. The big blind also called and the flop came down {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. The big blind fired 500 and only Horan made the call.

The turn card was the {6-Spades} and both players checked to see the {2-Hearts} hit the felt on the river. The big blind checked and Horan bet 725. His opponent called and showed {A-?} {10-?}. Horan held {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} and raked in the pot.

Khalil Makes a Boat

Catching up with the action on the flop of {9-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}, Ali Khalil bet 550. Aytunc Tezay told Khalil, "I'm only going to send you this message one time." before min-raising to 1,100. Khalil made the call.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and both players checked. After the river completed the board with the {Q-Spades}, Khalil bet 2,000. Tezay made the call and Khalil showed {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} for a full house. Tezay mucked.

Broom Sweeps Back with a Double

James Broom held pocket jacks -- {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} -- on a board of {K-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs} when he found all of his chips in the middle, about 11,000 total. His opponent made the call with a pair and a straight draw holding the {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}.

Broom dodged the outs when the {Q-Spades} hit the river and doubled back to 22,000.

Ali the Reporter

Ali Khalil must want a job reporting for PokerNews.com. He typed a recent hand into a notepad on his phone and handed it to us. Here's what happened. This happened in the first level.

Khalil raised to 400 preflop and got two callers: Aytunc Tezay and Dave Lee. The three players then took a flop of {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Lee checked and Khalil fired 600. Tezay called and Lee folded.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} to the board. Khalil bet 1,100 and Tezay raised to 2,400. Khalil then made the 5,225. Tezay folded and Khalil showed {8-Spades} {6-Spades}, playing the player not the cards.

Khalil is currently on 35,000 chips.

Saab Back To Starting Stack

The hijack seat raised to 500 and then David Saab reraised to 1,700. The original raiser made the call.

The flop came down {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Spades}, nice and monotone. The player had checked dark to Saab, who opted to check behind on the flop.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and again, both players checked.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Saab bet 2,800 after his opponent checked. Saab won the pot after the player mucked and moved back up to 30,000.

Vandersluis Vexed By River Bet

On a {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop, Philip Dorrington in the small blind led out for 4,500. Roy Vandersluis bumped it up to 9,000.

The {4-Spades} turn card prompted a check from both players.

When the {8-Clubs} fell on the river, Dorrington tossed out three yellow, 5K chips sending Vandersluis into the tank. Dorrington seemed to egg-on the veteran, telling him "I know you're afraid I'll show you a bluff." Finally, Vandersluis folded and Dorrington sloppily mucked, allowing the {a-Clubs} being revealed.

Vandersluis was left with about 20,000 after the hand and Dorrington up to about 40,000.
