Benton Slips

We aren't exactly sure of the action, but with the final board reading {8-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{A-Spades}, we found Aaron Benton doubling an opponent up.

Benton was leading when the majority of the money went in with his {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, but when the river spiked a second ace and his opponent moved all in holding {A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Benton made the call before slipping to 45,600 in chips.

Ericksen Pushes Draw

Mark Ericksen - no need to be looking for the exit now!
Mark Ericksen - no need to be looking for the exit now!

Mark Ericksen limped in from early position before Damon Lum bumped it to 1,600 from the button.

Ericksen made the call before leading for 3,000 on the {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop as Lum made the call before the {Q-Hearts} on the turn was followed with an Ericksen all in for 13,675.

Lum went deep into the tank before eventually finding a fold to slip to roughly 24,000 as Ericksen tabled his {6-Spades}{5-Spades}.

"If you called, you'd probably win!" stated Ericksen as he happily raked in the pot.

"I was kinda over it and was happy to go home. But now that I have some chips, I think I'll stay a while!" added Ericksen as Lum just glared back.

Broadway Clips Grigg

Tom Grigg is the next player to see the majority of his chips pushed to another player when he was rivered by an opponent holding {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} to his {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The final board read {7-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} to see Grigg's opponent spike Broadway on the river to take the lead and see the 2009 APPT Sydney Main Event fifth place finisher slip down to 6,200 in chips.

The Ups and Downs of Jackson Zheng

Jackson Zheng opened the cutoff with a raise only to have an opponent move all in from the big blind for an additional 5,950.

Zheng made the call tabling his dominated {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to be up against {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, and when the board ran out {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{A-Spades}{K-Spades}, Zheng was left crippled on less than 2,000.

Just a few hands later, Zheng found himself all in against Daniel Neilson.

Neilson: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Zheng: {K-Spades}{9-Spades}

That board ran out {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades} to see Zheng spike a higher pair to climb to 7,000 before he found himself all in just a few hands later against Michael O'Grady.

Zheng: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
O'Grady: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The final board of {4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{J-Clubs} saw Zheng find yet another double to 15,000 as O'Grady slipped down to 9,500.

Another Outdraw Ends Benton's Day

Aaron Benton will not be tasting victory here in Auckland

With a raise from middle position to 1,200, Danny Silk three-bet to 3,900 next to act as Aaron Benton smooth-called from the big blind as the original raiser came along also.

The flop of {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Spades} was checked to Silk who fired out a continuation-bet of 6,500 as only Benton made the call to see the {7-Clubs} land on the turn.

Benton checked as Silk shuffled chips continuously for over three minutes before splashing the pot with six orange 5,000-denomination chips amounting to a bet of 30,000. Benton instantly committed his last 18,000 to be at risk.

Benton: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Silk: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

"Another bloody two-outer on the turn!" exclaimed Benton in reference to one of the earlier pots with Julian Cohen.

Now needing to hit his own two-outer, Benton would unfortunately see the {2-Hearts} land on the river to end his chance of becoming the first double APPT Champion.

As the pot was pushed to Silk to see him climb to 91,000, Benton pushed his chair in walked over to Silk and shook his hand before exiting the tournament area.

Neilson Queen'd to Rail

With a raise ahead of him, Daniel Neilson made it an additional 4,400 to go only to have a Noah Vogelman behind him in the big blind move all in.

The original raiser passed, but Neilson made the call for his tournament life.

Neilson: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Vogelman: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Unfortunately for Neilson, the board ran out {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Spades} to see Neilson's tournament end at the hand of a Vogelman two-outer as he climbed to 110,000 in chips.

Harman Closes In On 100k

With the board reading {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, John Harman fired out a bet of 4,000 with his lone opponent in the hand making the call.

The river of the {2-Clubs} was checked through to see Harman table his {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} for two pair, and the pot, as he powered to 97,000 in chips.

Lum Legged

On a board of {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} with roughly 24,000 in the pot, Roger Harris was confronted with an 18,875-chip all in bet from Damon Lum.

Going deep into the tank, Harris eventually made the call holding {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} to be in the lead against Lum's {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

Unfortunately for Lum, the river landed the {3-Clubs} to see him hit the rail as Harris climbs to over 60,000 in chips.
