Team PokerStars Pros Trotting Along

Lee Nelson looking to build his stack
Lee Nelson looking to build his stack

Two Team PokerStars Pros sit amongst the field today with Australian Team Pros Tony Hachem and Pro Lee Nelson battling it out.

Hachem's day has been pretty steady after winning a nice pot early with top set, Hachem has remained fairly quiet not getting too involved as he heads to break with 23,600 in chips.

Nelson on the other hand has been fairly active on his table that features Mishel Anunu and comedian Mike King. Unfortunately that activeness hasn't resulted to a huge accumulation of chips as the man with a nickname that resembles his impressive record - Lee 'Final Table' Nelson - has seen his stack at break slide down to 14,300.

With both players heading on a break, hopefully they will be able to use it to regain some composure and see their chip counts soar upwards as they make a run at not only a Day 2 berth, but also a spot on the final table.

Climo Chips Up

Lance Climo called a 700-chip raise preflop to see a {K-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} flop fall.

Facing a small continuation bet, Climo bumped to an additional 1,600 as his opponent made the call before check-folding for 5,000 when the turn landed the {4-Hearts}.

Climo firstly tabled his {K-Diamonds}, and then the {Q-Hearts}, to see him collect the pot and move to 28,000 in chips.

Barrett Flush'd

Josh Barrett
Josh Barrett

Josh Barrett bumped it up to 500 preflop in position and found a caller in Miles Davis.

The flop fell down {A-}{A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Davis led for 500 only to have Barrett raise it up to 1,000. Davis made the call, and when the {8-Clubs} landed on the turn, Davis pushed out a bet of 1,500 which Barrett called.

As the river landed the {9-Clubs}, Davis fired once again; this time for 2,000 with Barrett again making the call.

Davis tabled his {J-Clubs}{10-} to make both a backdoor straight and flush to scoop the pot off Barrett and his {A-}{K-}.

As Barrett relinquished his hand to slip to roughly half what he began the day with, he will have to call upon his recent run in the Victorian Poker Championships Main Event where he finished a gallant runner-up for a AU$114,300 ($102,580) payday.

Edwards Chips Up

On a board reading {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} with roughly 6,300 in the pot, Luke Edwards was faced with a bet of 3,500.

Asking how much his opponent had remaining - roughly a total of 4,200 - Edwards tossed in a single orange 5,000-denomination chip to signify a call.

"Ace-high!" announced Edwards' opponent as he tabled his {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Edwards quickly tabled his {A-Spades}{J-Spades} to scoop the pot and move to 21,700 in chips.

Middleditch Fires Triple-Barrel

Andrew Middleditch
Andrew Middleditch

Andrew Middleditch opened to 550 from middle position and found some action from the player in the small blind.

After the {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop was checked to him, Middleditch fired out 825 and found his opponent making the call before the {J-Spades} landed on the turn and Middleditch's 1,800-chip bet was again check-called.

The river of the {4-Diamonds} was greeted by a third check from the small blind before Middleditch fired one last barrel for 5,100.

His opponent made the call and Middleditch announced, "Ace-high!"

Unfortunately his triple-barrel bluff wouldn't hold up against his opponent's check-call line as he tabled his {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} to scoop the pot and push Middleditch down to 16,700 in chips.

Middle Pair No Good for King

Mike King opened to 450 from middle position and Mishel Anunu made the call from the button to see a {5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts} flop fall.

King continued for 600 only to have Anunu bump it to 1,450 with King making the call.

The turn landed the {6-Diamonds}, and following a check from King, Anunu fired out 2,200. Kim deliberated for a few moments before releasing his hand while showing the {Q-Hearts}.

Anunu happily raked the pot to move to 26,000 as King slipped to 18,800 in chips.
