Wu Drops Some Back

Raymond Wu
Raymond Wu

Team PokerStars Asia's Raymond Wu raised to 1,600. The button and big blind called to see the flop come down {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Action checked to the button and he fired 2,200. Both the big blind and Wu called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and action checked to the button again. He bet 6,200 this time. The big blind folded and then Wu tossed his cards in as well.

Phil Ivey raised to 2,000. The hijack seat called and then play folded to Jackson Zheng in the big blind. He also called.

The flop produced the {J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. All it took was a continuation bet of 4,000 from Ivey after Zheng checked and he won the pot. The hijack seat and Zheng quickly folded the flop.

Moose Makes Magic

Raemin 'Jake the Moose' Alexander has just seen his stack move a little higher toward the end of Day 1a action and we caught a hand which added to his stack.

An early position player shoved his short stack all in and a flurry of cards were sent into the muck before the play was on Alexander in the big blind. Before Alexander looked at his cards, he moved his trademark moose card protector a little to the left. When he had seen what he was holding, Alexander immediately made the call and tabled his {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

The all-in player would need some help as his {9-Spades}{6-Spades} was well behind. The {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board was no help as Alexander took down the pot and added to his stack.

Levy Moving On Up

Grant Levy has slowly moved his up the chip counts and we recently caught a hand which shows how he has been weaving his way up the leaderboard.

A middle position player opened the action to 2,000 before Levy popped it to 6,550. The action was then back around to the original aggressor and he threw in the four-bet, making it 7,150 more to Levy.

At this point Levy made a five-bet to 16,600 and his opponent thought for some time before throwing his cards into the muck. As Levy raked in his new chips he flung {q-Spades}{j-Hearts} on the table, making his opponent slightly cringe.

Folding to Ivey

Phil Ivey has managed to slowly accumulate a nice stack toward the end of Day 1a action and it is because of hands like this that he now sits behind an almost six-figure stack.

The action started when a player opened to 2,200 from middle position. Ivey made the call from the button and the flop fell {9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Ivey's opponent again led, this time for 3,100. When Ivey made the call, the {7-Clubs} landed on the turn and both players opted to check.

The {5-Clubs} on the river prompted Ivey's opponent to bet, throwing out 7,300 and leaving himself with around 20,000 behind.

At this point Ivey studied his opponent before tumbling a stack of 5,000 denomination chips onto the felt. It was more than enough to cover his opponent, who went into the tank before sending his cards into the muck.
