Welcome back to the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia for the 2012 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Melbourne Main Event. This is it! The big dance, the one all the players have been waiting for. It’s the largest buy-in APPT event ($5,000), it has the most prestige on the tour and in just a few days, an APPT Melbourne champion will be crowned!
This year’s event marks only the second time the APPT has descended upon the Crown Casino, but there is already a rich history that goes with the event. In 2011, Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Leo Boxell defeated a star-studded field of 260 players, taking home the title and a whopping $330,000 to go along with it. That win for Boxell was arguably the highlight of the whole year in Australian poker and we are sure this year’s APPT Melbourne Main Event will be just as exciting.
The first of two Day 1 flights is set to begin in just a short while at 6:10 PM local time and a large field of familiar faces, Crown regulars and Team PokerStars Pros are expected to be at the tables.
