Speidel Busts With a Twist

2012 Aussie Millions Main Event champion Oliver Speidel has just been eliminated. Oliver Gill explained what happened to his fellow countryman:

Speidel had raised pre flop, and a bunch of players called creating a multi-way pot. The flop brought out {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-}, and Speidel bet around 3,000. One player decided to call, after which there was a raise to around 9,000. Speidel opted to move all in for 13,000 chips, and the caller folded. The raiser was not going anywhere, and he called with {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Speidel was behind against his opponent's nut flush draw as he tabled {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

Neither the turn nor the river saved Speidel, who headed for the exit.

Rubie, Rubie, Rubie

We arrived at Brendon Rubie's table with a {3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop out on the felt and with Rubie squaring off against one opponent. The player bet out with 7,000 here and Rubie made the call.

Both players opted to check the {k-Spades} turn and a {5-Hearts} would complete the board on the river. This time Rubie's opponent would lead for 10,000 and Rubie made the call.

Rubie's {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, for a pair of aces, was strong enough to send his opponent's {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} straight into the muck.

Bentley's No Hero

The board read {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} when Oliver Gill bet 11,200 from the cuttoff.

Wayne Bentley went deep into the tank, and Gill eventually called the clock on him. Bentley eventually called, but he didn't get good news.

Gill turned over {J-Spades}{8-Spades}, and his rivered straight beat Bentley's {A-Spades}{5-Clubs}.
